It's that time of year. Let's see those kills.

Steve jr 8pt, me 8pt, recovered BearCreekBallistics 240HV bullet 450 bushmaster @2560fps muzzle. My 8pt came in to gore jr's deer. Four of our deer camp shot BCB 240HV ammo for Illinois 1st deer firearm season.

North East Nebraska 11/11 heading towards sundown. Ruger #1 in 25-06 with a 26" barrel. 90gr Absolute Hammer at over 3600 fps at the muzzle. 150 yards broadside shot; he went about 25 yards and piled up. My first 5x5. Pretty tough year. NE Game & Parks is saying the harvest numbers are down nearly 1/3 compared to the previous 5 year average. Certainly saw way fewer deer on our lease this year....I think EHD really hit the herd hard :-(

Nice deer for NE Nebraska (my stomping grounds), definitely way fewer deer running around this year.

Got this dandy today in Venango county western Pennsylvania. I know they aren’t the best photos but I was pressed for time. I had one whale of a drag with no snow just to get him to an old logging road where I can get my four wheeler there to get him out before it was dark. And believe me you don’t want to be there in the dark where I shot him. Moss covered rocks, multi floral, grapevines, treetops, etc. etc.. Shot him with my Cooper 6.5 x 284 shooting 100 grain TTSX’s.IMG_2610.jpeg

I took Dad's 1958 M88 Winchester out today. I had a doe tag and a buck tag. I had a series of does present themselves at about 40 yards. I aimed at a big doe with twin yearlings three times and each time quietly said "pow" but didn't even take the safety off. Moments later I saw a big rack coming and the does slinked off. The buck avoided coming into clear view (if I had a scope sighted rifle I might have snaked a shot thru) so he made it by to live another day. I was inundated with squirrels...so many I nearly called in artlillery fire at danger close range...sappers in the wire!!!! It was a lovely day and I didn't even pop a primer. Maybe I am growing soft, but I just didn't need to shoot tht ol gal...

Sound, wisdom Pilgrim, sound, wisdom! I did the same thing in New York a couple of weeks ago. You don’t have to kill something to have the outdoor experience. I will remember that doe with her two yearlings for a long time, and I did the same thing “ pow”

Out this morning light snow but turned out to none a great morning my American guest managed to shoot 10 pointer hybrid stag and a smaller 8 pointer stag
