F Class rule changes?!?

C'mon man! I would believe almost anything about the rules committee. I mean, they banned electronic levels. [Don't even get me started on the math of that!]

Which brings me to why I started shooting PRS instead of F-class this year...

Y'all do realize that those top coaches could still make winning wind calls looking through a cardboard box with a pinhole at the far end, right? The tension on the waistband of your undies probably negatively impacts your score more than the difference in spotting scopes, but let's not let reality creep into our rulemaking rumors...

The stomach churning nature of such discussions even dissuades me from eating popcorn. I'm going to go dryfire...

If this isn't a sad commentary on the future of F Class, I don;t what what is.

Yes, ban spotting scopes, ban wind coaches and ban wind flags. Ban kestrel. It will be just you and the wind. So romantic.

I started shooting "F" class in 1998 and it was the proliferation of rules which caused me to abandon the sport. The original rule regarding rests (any rest except return to battery) was easy to understand and should have been easy to follow. The concept of any rifle, any sight, with an upper weight limit of 22 pounds, also seemed pretty good to me. It couldn't last though. At one match in 2000, I was squadded with a guy who was complaining about all the guys with custom actions having an advantage and turning it into a spending race. I was, at the time, shooting a home-built Model 70 and leading the field by a half dozen points, so I disagreed. I don't mind the equipment race aspect but never felt the need to buy in (no pun intended). I do think the spirit of "F" class, as envisioned by George in the beginning, was lost in the shuffle. WH

You can spend all the money you want until your having a bad day and the guy next to you is shooting a Norma Dasher barreled Remington 700 action in a $500 pre finished stock and kicking your ass shooting cleans at a state championship.. Humbling, lol

But at least your stock was the purtiest on the line! :)
(until Brett does that SB stock I got.);)

Speaking to an NRA representative, F Class rules, as previously mentioned, are in the works to be updated. I didn’t press him for details, figured they can be dissected, criticized and discussed when they’re published.
…but in the meantime, I am enjoying some very funny posts.

What kind of beer is that in your avatar picture and does it go well with @Warren Dean 's popcorn?

I don't have an issue with the scopes themselves, however, the comment that there were teams with a "line" of team scopes behind them is a bit interesting. Along with the two shooters on the line, there should only be a coach and possibly a team captain helping with wind calls. The team is also allowed an "assistant" to check the score during firing but they aren't allowed to help with wind calls per the rules. There really shouldn't be a "line" of team members behind the shooters watching conditions and making wind calls. Just an observation.

Could you please provide the rule that you are referencing? I would like to read up on this.

Thank you,
