F Class rule changes?!?

So... team captain, team coach, scorer for the team next door, check scorer for your own team... plus the four shooters, and however many 'alternates'. Interesting that they mention both the coach's assistant as check scoring (12.5), and again in 12.7. It's also interesting that there don't appear to be any bounds on the number of alternates?

Though to the point... it does explicitly call out that the check scorer (vs. the "coach's assistant...") is there for score verification *only*, nothing else. I'm guessing that's considered implicit for the person assigned to score for another team. Which should just leave the captain, the coach... and all the shooters/alternates not actually firing. Unless I'm missing it, the rules don't explicitly state the disposition of the team members not actively on the firing point? I did a quick text search of the full rule book for 'team' and didn't see anything jumping out at me...

I'm guessing here, but probably in the past there was an assumption that you had 4-5, maybe 6 people. One shooter, one coach, one scoring for the team next door, and one pulling targets. Four people. If you were lucky, you had one or two extra - someone to pull targets for the team shooters, and maybe someone's friend or SO to check score.

It's been a while since I shot a team match... but it seemed like there was definitely an upward trend for the winning teams... four shooters, captain, coach, scorer, check scorer, target puller, alternate(s), water boy, cheerleaders... you get the idea.

It's amazing how many people you can have on a four person team

Understood, however, why would they go into such detail about what the captain, coach, and assistant are allowed to do and then the other team members have the freedom to do whatever they want? Once again, no problem if I am wrong. It wont be the first time.

C'mon man! I would believe almost anything about the rules committee. I mean, they banned electronic levels. [Don't even get me started on the math of that!]

Which brings me to why I started shooting PRS instead of F-class this year...

Y'all do realize that those top coaches could still make winning wind calls looking through a cardboard box with a pinhole at the far end, right? The tension on the waistband of your undies probably negatively impacts your score more than the difference in spotting scopes, but let's not let reality creep into our rulemaking rumors...

The stomach churning nature of such discussions even dissuades me from eating popcorn. I'm going to go dryfire...

You should resume Fclass Keith. I miss you, any better reasons. Ok, you have a lot of experience to share and big matches to almost win :). By the way, there were a bunch of pictures on a table at nationals and I picked up a good one of you. I’ll find it.

This was inevitable. I went to a service rifle match many years ago with a friend, what an eye opener. There was only one or two service rifles as far as I could see. The rest were highly modified Garands and M1A1s that had so much work done to them that they should not have qualified. Someone at that match had a screaming fit when another touched his handguard, "its bedded you will ruin it!" F class and had to become an equipment race with leaders trying to pervert the rules to their advantage just like every other sport on the planet.

They say never say never, but I don't know about that.
Based on how small the competitive shooting community is (especially f-class) it seems like a sin to not have at least one 2-3 hr pod with these two. Their collective content has saved me years of headaches re: shooting/reloading. Didn't know they don't like each other but did some further digging in the forum and seems like Glasscock doesn't like EC's style. IMO that would make the pod even better! In the end, we are all shooters

I'm a Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin aficionado. What type of popcorn does your sommelier friend suggests would pair well with VCP Brut?
Well, no specific popcorn suggestion. More of a statement around the rich buttery, salty taste of popcorn and champagne in general. However, I have had good reviews pairing popcorn made with Land O' Lakes salted butter, fresh grated parmigiano reggiano cheese, and a dash of fresh ground pepper with Bollinger Brut Special Cuvee, or a Nicolas Feuillatte Vintage Brut.
