F-Class 7-Second Rule - Clarification

DE-F-Open

In the past there has been some misunderstanding as to the use of the 7-second rule when using electronic targets in F-Class competition during team matches and when shooting Bisley style in Fullbore competition.

In order to add clarity to the existing rule, the NRA Board of Directors, at the request of the F-Class committee and with the concurrance of the Competition Rules and Programs committee, recently amended the existing rule. The amendment states that the 7-second rule does not apply to team matches or to matches such as Fullbore where coompetitors are shooting Bisley Style with two or three competitors firing alternately on the same target.

I hope this helps to clarify the existing rule.

Why should there not be a delay with electronic targets in team matches. Do pulled targets somehow operate faster during those matches? Electronic targets should emulate pulled targets as much as possible. I have seen pit service so slow during team matches that make 7 seconds seem like an instant.

I’m gonna suppose here some…risky move on my part

1. Maintain the sanctity of existing records.
2. Many clubs, or state/regional/national events are still shot on pulled targets.
3. To maintain practices that wouldn’t present a conflict with ICFRA member status for International Competition.

I’m guessing these are some of the considerations, probably more I’m missing.

I 100% agree with this.....They should leave the seven second delay in for team events.

I also agree that this is strange to remove the delay for team matches even if the top team matches in the US (unless held in Lodi or at the Fullbore Nationals) are currently on pulled targets.

If I'm reading John's rules correctly then this could apply to the F Class Fullbore Nationals coming up later this year for both the team AND individual matches as well as the team match (but not individual matches) at F Class Nationals this year or is this rule not going into effect until Jan 2026 since I'm not seeing the current F Class rules having been updated?
