Do it yourself Stock making thread

I’ve got to figure something “gorgeous” out. I just read the Bulletin. Nothing I’ve done has ever made the bulletin. I’ll keep trying!
Brother sometimes I feel like a line from the lyrics to Dukes of Hazard
Mama don't understand why they keep showing my hands and not my face on TV.
Honestly I've seen a couple paint jobs pictured, but that's about all.

I must of had a moment of weakness. I’m OK now. I don’t need the attention. I do this to enjoy the craft and keep busy. I post to show other guys how to do it. That’s enough.
Your work is amazing and I appreciate what you can do.

Have you put that gun together yet? If that stock sits in a corner gathering dust, I’ll make a voodoo doll and stick pins in it!
I tried but the long action wouldn't fit in a short action inlet. a-bonk.gif Seriously, I have to remove some material for the 1/4 recoil lug to fit. No issues with the trigger hanger. That's on the agenda for this week.

Thinking of stocks sitting around, I wonder what ever happened to the one I made for @Bc'z ? Firewood? I know it was kinda rough and needed some sanding but it had potential.

It's still in Virginia, I'm not in a hurry for a new build, I still need to finish the wife's rifle.

FDLMAO, when you do this for a 'living', you NEVER have time to work on your own stuff.
Walt, this is the good side notice how the butt plate is proud and unfinished with a little bedding oozing out. I hoged out the bolt handle slot to accommodate the straight handle, I'll be back filling then adding a gunmetal pearl cover up to hide repairs before applying red candy.20230824_100711.jpgI'm planning on getting started just as soon as I get done with a Elcamino I'm painting....
That's what I tell myself anyway. Lol

Checkering was done by Evan Koch out of MN.
Everything I've seen come out of his shop looks fantastic.
He did an amazing job. I have done a couple small pieces, with mixed results. One wasn't too bad, but the other was completely fubar. It would take me quite a while before I would feel comfortable doing such work on someone else's stock. Nice looking stock!

Thank you. I'm nowhere near comfortable doing checkering myself.
