O'Leary announces new refinery

Michigan is my home state and I love it, but if the dems get any more power here and start making ridiculous laws, I’m going to have to find a new place to live. Dead Serious.
Dave
I was born there and lived the first 30 years of my life in Michigan. I still go back for deer season every year

Ive personally seen refineries built from green field to commissioned in 18mo. Cant do it in the USA, and kevin aint got enough money to build one anyway, but it can be done. I bet 12-15mo would get one done with the right teams. And if you cant float a panamax tanker up to the refinery dont waste your money.

Next we come to how to deliver it to where it has to go to, it may surprise you but one of the biggest of all time contributors to the Dem's happens to own a railroad with lots of tank cars.

Do you think just maybe this could be one of the reasons those pipelines were shut down? Gosh, hard to believe isn't? So if N.D. is willing to offer a sweetheart deal to that railroad owner, ... that if there isn't a rail line already there, there would be one very soon. And yes I bet we would get to pay for it as well.

Next?
That's the main reason that keystones was shut down! That's why warren buffet cow towed to Obama and why he caused Berkshire Hathaway to pay way over market for theresa heinz-kerrys shares of of Heinz corporation......all payback to shut down keystone!

Buffet is just as bad as soros! Maybe worse, buffet was born in this great country...

Years ago… when they were going through the base closures- BRAC, I wrote to my senator and suggested they turn some of the bases they were closing into refineries. Why not, pretty strategic locations, many on the coast, and many with various degrees of soil contamination. Already had a decent workforce nearby, rail and road infrastructure. No brainer.

Coulda shoulda woulda, but didn’t.

I hunt in mason county area every season (Ludington area). Where do you live now?

Well maybe not all but alot does i see it go through town all the time.
I did work in the N.D. oil patch for 3 years

So I went ahead and googled it because I just had to know LOL in 2022 ND oil into WA state by rail was anywhere from 200k to 500k bbls per week. So that would generously be less than 10% of production and probably closer to 5.
Numbers came from the WA state reports.

Well were did the rest go, all I know is there is a $hit ton of oil tankers roll through town almost daily

Here it is 75% goes to refineries scattered around. Another good reason to build more in N.D

The lack of refinery capacity should be a national security emergency... But strangely, it isn't.

There should be a refinery in every state. Refining should be a modular function and decentralized, simply for security reasons. Capitalism should have zero to do with it.

The sheer lack of refining is further evidence our government has been taken over by people that want to destroy this country, not preserve it.

>>>> EPA

And why is that, all the oil in N.D right now goes on rail cars all the way to the Ferndale- Anacortes Wa. refineries
They cant make enough train cars to haul the oil from a mainstream refinery. They also have to think of a time they may not be getting it out of the ground locally its gotta be brought in on those same ships. Those ships haul 350,000bbls plus and dont go thru every town on the way out

hose ships haul 350,000bbls plus and dont go thru every town on the way out
Thats my point Dusty you haul the oil all the way either rail or pipeline to some refinery on the coast then truck the gas all over the country why not just cut all the transporting of the oil out and just transport final product or does that make to much sense.just one of those barges you talk about is about a week worth headed just to Wash.

First, I wish him the best with this project. Now just for the sake of conversation, what if N.D. tells the Feds to go pound sand and builds it anyway?

You hit the nail on the head over and over. Federal over reach is strangling this country. States should govern themselves with UNITY in mind. Some IRS money to go to Fed for defense, the rest back to each state to use as they, the people, see fit. If your state is run by greedy idiots, ............................
Tell the EPA to take a flying leap.

Not many new refineries build in any OECD country for a long time. Most recently Sturgeon in Alberta (2020) but really it's an upgrader
