Good stuff, thanks for posting the video. Here is jus a quick video on one of the parts that will wear if not cared for. A look at that part and you would not think about having .040” play in your joystick. That plate is for holding one plate stationary during horizontal travel.
Actually, they did, with a huge improvement in bearing design..but it seems to be too little, too late. I have nothing against Seb, but he copied the basic design of the Farley and made it better. Now he's copied the design of the Rodzilla, and it's yet to be seen if it's better or not, but is using teflon bushings where Rod uses linear bearings. I can see where teflon might work well but I simply can't say if one is better than the other yet. I liked the Rodzilla Raptor design before there was a Neo X and bought one based on his design because it looked like a better design. Then the Neo X was introduced and appears to be a functional copy of an American made Raptor rest. Nuff said.I have shot of a Farley and really didn’t care for it. The NEO was better and the Lenzi is the best joystick I have ever used.
What I don’t understand is, there have been so many posts about how to make a Farley better, why doesn’t Farley incorporate the fixes and sell a better rest?
Dave.
Part is driven by a price point. I do SEB work as well. I make tensioners to replace the parts that are included. They really change the feel. Tensioners also make it more forgiving when you are trying to adjust your rest.I have shot of a Farley and really didn’t care for it. The NEO was better and the Lenzi is the best joystick I have ever used.

Yes I had a Lenzi. It's a nice rest, I think it's the prettiest rest out there. It's like a Lambo, smooth lines and looks like it would do 200 just sitting there. I just didn't like carting it around compared to a NEO and the price IMO isn't worth all that extra money. Bottom line I have probably owned more front rests than anyone on this site. I've owned close to 40 of them and I have done both good and bad with every rest that I have used at a match. IMO you need a decent rest. The rest doesn't tell you when to pull the trigger, nor does anything else that you spend your money on. It's what's between your ears that makes things work well for you.Mike,
Is that weight you are referring too with or without a rifle? And if it includes rifle what is the weight? You mention 2.8lbs, what pull gage are you using one. It surprising how smooth the Neo’s can be, same with Farleys.
Maybe Jim will chine in, he had a Lenzi.
Guys have been buying shooting rest parts from me since 2018. I found the Sinclair rest I had bought had both tension tips broken. The plastic tips that Sinclair made would break off. I started making them along with the extra knob for the left side hole. Replacement holder for the tension spring. Then lock knobs for Farleys, all total it around 75 different parts shooters had look for or could not get from the manufacturer. Even design custom stuff for people. That how the Farley lock knobs started; as something to replace the stupid handle that Farley included. Alan happened to be someone that bought a knob from me and like the quality of my work.
A lot of people do not leave feedback, so not every part I made for shooters is listed in my feedback. Check my feedback if you would like. If you are looking something or have an idea PM me or call my number is below. Just felt I should clear up things, it was never Alan business. He has no machining experience equipment or tooling. Whatever he did make was never meant for sale. He did help with design suggestions, he really got into lubes and was a big help in that aspect. It was fun talking with him on ideas and once again he will be missed. If you haven’t seen the inside of your rest in a long time, give some love or make arrangements to have me do it. I do have what lubes Alan had, most had been left open or was over a year old and the oils had separated. I am buying fresh lubes, it expensive but worth the money
Thank You,
Mark
I agree that the Lenzi is the best looking rest out there, including the Raptor or the Neo X models. And, not much to complain about with it either. Very good restYes I had a Lenzi. Thanks for the reply Mark, I will definitely buy used I will be looking for a max or neo , I have heard some got rid of the max because it was to heavy, my club has the luxury of being able to back our cars & trucks right up to the bench . Your thoughts on weight of rest ?Crossthread,
I look to see if you had a name listed, I do see you are from Texas. Let me toss out some stuff. Some guys always want to have the latest and greatest. Then you have guys that think changing might improve their scores. Others just get bored. Then find out what they had was working for them. Others just buy and sell to make a buck. As they say each to his own. Look at what the top shooters in your discipline are using, ask them why they made their choice of rest.
There are significant differences between SEB & Farley. When you see someone with one of the rest you are interested in, ask if you could try shooting off it or least feel the joystick. Get their feedback on their decision. Just make sure you don’t touch the tension settings. If you have specific questions PM me. I don’t know everything, but I am offering help. I don’t get on line until the evening hours, if it urgent call me. Hope that helps.

Weight has its benefits but stability is what is paramount...Both the new Raptor and the Neo X are much lighter. I can't speak to the Neo X yet but the Raptor is very stable while being lighter than the Farley or the Neo.Thanks for the reply Mark, I will definitely buy used I will be looking for a max or neo , I have heard some got rid of the max because it was to heavy, my club has the luxury of being able to back our cars & trucks right up to the bench .
