Depends if you want to do more longer range shooting than shorter range. The longer range that you shoot at the more rigid the bench needs to be. You need to figure out that "happy median" for you.

As mentioned above, what kind of hunting or shooting do you plan on doing?

After using a very good rotating bench for several years, I switched over to a tripod and arca rails. Much more portable, easy to carry, shoot in any position you would want.

I built a bunch of these benches. They can be attached to your receiver hitch and rolled around. The seat adjusts for height also.

if you have a place to build one just do it. you will never regret it.

a chain saw and a drill and some posts and boards is all you need. it dont take long at all.
dig holes for the posts and add Sakrete for additional stability. dont take and but hour or two.

You might be able to compromise and get the best of both worlds. I built a few but my final version was the best. I used a double 3/4" plywood top, angled iron flanges for threaded pipe legs (3 works much better than 4), a smaller diameter pipe inside the outer pipe with a set lock for adjustability and a bracket underneath the top so that the legs could all store neatly. The table was heavy but no so heavy that I couldn't carry it aways from the truck for set up.

I painted mine green so that if I left it set up around the groundhog fields it was harder to see from a distance. Thieves are everywhere. Other ideas are to have a slot in the top for a carry handle and a scalloped edge on one side to allow a rifle to stand vertically without tipping over.

That's a very nice bench. It looks a lot like the one I built but it's certainly more refined. Their LH model has only one in stock and it's the LAST ONE they will build. If anyone is interested, you've got to move fast. :>)

Given the cost this looks interesting and it's sticking with the three legged design that you want. The only thing I don't like is the small top, but I'm sure it would be trivial to mount a larger plywood top on in using just carriage bolts and easy nuts so you can pop it on/off easily.

I use a custom three legged wood table with the seat built into the single rear leg that a friend built years ago, but if I was building one I'd use a plywood top with three water pipe legs, just need the mounting plates they screw into and the two front ones should be angled out a little for stability. So sturdy/solid and breaks down flat for hauling.

After I sold the patent to the BR Pivot to Battenfield and they brought out their el cheapo Stable Table as a low cost alternative, I noticed that silly little plastic top. If anyone here intends to purchase one of these, be aware that you'll want to make a larger, more roomy bench top for that thing for any degree of shooting pleasure.

A better alternative would just to pony up for the real-meal deal and get one of their BRP's and be done with it. For PD or squirrel shooting, being able to rotate the bench either makes it or breaks it if you can't rotate. I labored for over 20 years trying to acquire furry targets 'way out there', and by the time my gear was oriented on the rat, he'd be gone. Hence the "rotating" factor came into play.
