Shooting benches

Here’s a top I made with aircraft interior honeycomb webbing. A guy gave me a sheet. I glued 1/4" underlayment to each side . Strong, very strong. 14A639B3-1C42-4200-8BDD-E5FB5545A7C1.jpeg

I have made one like that. Drilled a hole in receiving pipe big enough to weld a 1/2 inch nut to on the outside, then use a 1/2 bolt through nut and hole to tighten leg up . Real solid this way.

That is what I did too. But I welded a T handle to the top of the bolt so that it could easily be tightened or loosened without tools.

My bench looks very similar to yours, but I've got less pitch to my legs. That's a very stable looking setup. Pre-mfg brackets weren't available when I made my bench. I cut thick wedges out of a piece of oak and attached them to the bottom of the table at the correct angle. This allowed me to use readily available (threaded) pipe flanges. If you have expandable legs, it's easy to fashion a bracket on the bottom to hold them in place. They can then be used as a carry handle with the table closed up for transport.
Charlie I made the angles for my bench legs the same way as you did, for the same reason. Atleast I know if I I make another one I can get angled brackets now. Definitely makes for a very solid bench.

Another question how tall for say average size person should the the bench top to the ground length be ?
Mine is 32.25" / top of table to floor
I also added ~2.75" to the Costco (well made) folding chair I use.. I shoot prairie dogs so any + height is welcome. I'm also 6'2".
If you go with Urban's angled brackets you will need to add to the length to offset the angle.. I did the math on them a looong time back..

legs......30-31" will work

Bring a shovel to level table on uneven ground

Brackets ?

Cut the 1.25" pipe sleeves to a 15* angle & weld to the 1/4" plate

Welders like 'black......not galvanized

Oh & I use 2 sheets of 3/4" plywood for the top.....24" W x 36-38" long

Mine has a bit more angle on the legs. That's probably why hand tightening the legs works. Same color of carpet...must have been on sale...
