Also..... Brownells and Midway list RCBS dies as being made in the USA on their websites.
But they look like they were made in Shanghai!Just for info purposes. Lee dies are also made in the USA. Bet most didnt think that.
More like 2 words, Vista OutdoorOne word.
China.
That and their set up instruction sheet is terrible and their seater die design is the worst. But they look like they were made in Shanghai!
I went thru a similar situation with them. I have a love affair with AI cartridges. I did email them my dissatisfaction. After they were bought out they stopped the custom die shop. They no doubt helped Redding's business.Called RCBS today to get a price quote on a die set for an obsolete caliber. I was informed by Robin they dont have it, and they ‘used to have a custom die shop but it closed a long time ago’.
Tried emailing them through their website to make a formal, written, polite statement of disappointment but they dont allow enough spaces to type anything of substance.
I realized Fred Huntington aint sticking a hand written note in with orders anymore but I didnt realize they had given up on being THE reloading die company.
Dies
PRECISIONEERED DIES AFTER 70 YEARS OF MAKING SPECIAL AND CUSTOM DIES, THE BEAN COUNTERS AT VISTA (RCBS) HAVE DECIDED TO DISCONTINUE MOST (95%) OF THE ITEMS THE SPECIAL ORDERS/CUSTOM DEPARTMENT MADE. HERE AT HUNTINGTONS WE STILL HAVE A GOOD STOCK OF RCBS SPECIAL ORDER RELOADING DIES. CALL FOR YOUR NEEDS
I’m very close, but it is amazing how far back the shift from US manufacturing went. I’m pretty sure my old Lyman calipers are from China, and they were a gift from my dad.Yeah Me— Id like to have all US made loading tools on my bench. I think I am there but some of this stuff isnt marked that ican tell so i dont know for sure. For example I wonder when RCBS moved die manufacturing overseas- prob was a gradual thing—- do you know? Are the ones with the date stamped on top all US made?? thanks
I read that before. That says they just discontinued special order and custom dies. Its not saying that all their dies are now outsourced. Or were you trying to say something else? I might be misunderstanding your post.
What obsolete caliber you wanting to load? Sometimes existing dies can cover your needs with only slight modification.Called RCBS today to get a price quote on a die set for an obsolete caliber.
