Best Bullet Weight for Whitetail In 6.5 Creedmoor

I'm working up a load using the Nosler Ballistic Tip Hunter for whitetail hunting in Central Pennsylvania woods. Most shots will be under 100 yards, but may have the occasional shot out to 300 yards. Powder is H4350. I see a lot of guys on the web recommending the 120 gr BT, but nothing mentioned about the 140 BT, even though the 140 has a better BC. I've always thought the heavier bullet in the same bullet model will provide more stopping power. I'm new to hunting, so any advice will be appreciated.

Deer will never know the difference. If you are hunting and worried about BC you are probably shooting to far. Just work up best load for the bullet you can get. HAVE fun and good luck.

One of my best friends is an avid white tail hunter and mostly hunts with the 6.5 C M in Ruger # 1. He has tried all the Nolser B T s 120 gr. 130 gr. & 140 gr. and both the 130 gr. & 140 gr. A B s from various ranges from 50 yds. out to 500 yds. and I had the chance to see a lot of his kills. Honestly, they all do a good job but his favorite is the 130 gr. A B.

I shoot the old reliable Hornady 129 spire point and Sierra 130 gr HPBT Gameking out of my daughters 260, of which the creedmore is a ballistic clone. Those Sierra's have been unobtainable for the last few years. Sierra 120 gr Prohunters have worked very well for many years in it as well.

that was my first choice, but I can't find the ABs anywhere.

The BC of 140 and higher bullets simply won't do you anything inside of 300 yards. A lighter bullet will retain more velocity and energy at the closer range. I use the 130 gamechanger and it has been perfect from 15 feet to 500 yards about 20 times over.

If I were to go with 140 or 143 or 147 I might be able to stretch that to 600-700 yards on deer and maintain what I consider to be minimum energy considering starting MV.
