.22 caliber whitetail bullet

Just as a couple others have mentioned, 60gr Partition! That's what this bullet was designed for! I've shot deer with this bullet out of a 22-250 and it is amazing on deer. It will bust shoulder bones and still reach vitals, exiting most of the time. The farthest shot for me was 290 yds and entered just behind the left shoulder, busted the right shoulder and stopped under the hide. Bullet was a perfect mushroom and deer was DRT, what more can you ask for.

I know you have 1-9" twist, but i took my Wyoming pronghorn at 220 yards using 77 tipped match kings. DRT. So, something similar to that TMK but will stabilize in your barrel would be good. Others have said the Barnes TSX.....great bullet, but they can be hard to find a nice accurate load for

For hogs and deer, I’ve used 63 gr Sierra SMPs, 65 gr Sierra GKs, and 64 gr Nosler Bonded Solid Base. I never could get the 60 gr Partition to shoot well enough. I think that if you can get the Nosler 64 gr BSB to shoot well enough to suit you, I’d use that. Penetrates deep.

Here in Texas, if I’m deer hunting, I’m also hog hunting. Hogs are really tough critters and take some killing. The bullets I listed have all worked. If you want a blood trail, I’d use that 64 gr Nosler and do a heart shot. That’ll make em bleed. Shoot em in the chest and they won’t bleed a drop. You can however do a CNS shot with about any bullet mentioned in this chat.

With a hog, get that follow-up shot ready. They are hard to put down and keep down.

I shot a nice size buck a couple years ago with my 223, 1-9 twist using Hornady 60grn SPs. He was facing me at 70yds, one shot in the neck and he fell down on the spot.

That 60 nosler partition in a 223 kills like a big gun. Pure poison in a hot 22-250 8 twist. I've got a large picture album full of kids picture's with their first deer with those bullets.
I always wanted to try that bullet and the Barnes TSX, but the SGK has always worked so well ........If it's not broke, don't fix it.
