You don’t have to be in sighters, to learn. Preparation is the hallmark of winners, in any competitive endeavor.I agree. At our matches we don’t get sighters, and you also have to spin around 10 times on a baseball bat before each shot. To hell with trying to figure out what the wind is doing, and using it to learn and get better.
Why do people want marksmanship to be easier?
It’s pretty obvious from the proliferation of e-targets that there are a hella lot more participants than competitors. If you lose the participants there won’t be enough for a match. You don’t have to be in sighters, to learn. Preparation is the hallmark of winners, in any competitive endeavor.
I'm personally in favor of a 2 or 3 minute blow-off that doesn't strike targets before the first target of the day, followed by 2 sighters.
The idea is to foul in the barrel after it was cleaned.
I've seen far too many shooters using unlimited sighters to timidly test the waters to see if they want to jump in, or tune their rifles (I've even seen one character on the line with a seating die).
I think we're drifting away from the basics of the game with unlimited sighters - marksmanship and wind reading.
AMEN BROTHER. Please add "or any sighters". Nowhere in the rules does it mention that sighters are MANDATORY. As F-Class competitors, we have a variety of competition courses-of-fire that have their unique allotment of "sighters". Simple, if you don't think sighting shots are appropriate, don't take them...declare going for record first shot! The closest it gets to having mandatory sighters is when engaged in full bore competitions specifying convertible sighters...the first two shots are sighting shots no matter what. I guess the "no sighter" folks could declare ahead of time they are accepting their sighters!!In F-Class matches where "unlimited" sighters are allowed, no one is forced to take more than two.
There, I fixed it for you.Probably the character on the line with the seating die was an old guy who got confused and thought he was at a BELLY Bench Rest match. (I swear it wasn't me....)
Yes!So you get unlimited sighters on every match..??Do you think the scores would be lower and less cleans at 1000yds with only 2 sighters..??
Can't say for sure? Under pristine conditions, and for follow-on matches of the day, I've shot only one sighter (to wake up the target pullers) and then done pretty well.So you get unlimited sighters on every match..??Do you think the scores would be lower and less cleans at 1000yds with only 2 sighters..??
Danny,Can't say for sure? Under pristine conditions, and for follow-on matches of the day, I've shot only one sighter (to wake up the target pullers) and then done pretty well.
Therefore it would be more challenging and more fun with 2 sitersYes!
