Cfe223

Looking at it to use in a 62gr AR blaster load. Gets very fast velocities with 75+gr stuff, accuracy for me personally was terrible. I'm sure I can get something to shoot with it though.

Yup! I cringe and twitch when I think about accepting 2 MOA!

What kind of velocities with the 75’s?

Haha I bought a bunch of 70gr nosler rdf’s and for the life of me I couldn’t get them to shoot. 3 powders, 2 primers, lots of load development and nothing would break 1.5 moa consistently! I’d get 1 group in the .3’s then 1.2 then .4 then 1.8 then .7 and .8. I finally gave up on them

Thank you! I ended up getting lucky this morning and found 8lbs of 8208xbr and 8lbs cfe223 so I got both and hopefully can make a load with the cfe 223 in the 223 and save the 8208 for the 20 tac as I have 2 barrels that need to be fed lol. I’m willing to drop down in bullet weight for the 223 as it’s a trainer anyways so I can develop an accurate load that’s all that matters for barricade practice anyways. We also have a match at 500 yards so if I can get a bullet with decent bc to shoot decent it would be fun to take it there as well
I was never able to get the CFE223 to shoot well in any of my .223 rifles when using light bullets. The 8208XBR worked pretty well in all and excellent in some.

2800+ with an 18" gas gun.

If you didn't already try this, in my hands the 77 RDFs tuned in at .030" to .040" off the lands. I rarely ever need to test that far from the lands with other brands of bullets I use.

I jumped, I jammed, I kissed and nothing. I will will try them in the new barrel but if not then they will be designated for barricade work at larger targets lol

Gotcha. There could easily be some difference between the 70s and 77s, or perhaps even Lot-to-Lot variation that could account for our somewhat different experiences. I was pleasantly surprised that the 77s grouped pretty well in my hands, as I had no idea what to expect when I first tried them.

I hear good things about only a few versions of the rdf’s and the rest are terrible.

These things you hear, are they from shooter's with first hand experience or others that spotted for the shooter's? Or are they from a friend of a friend? I've shot them and spotted for another shooter. We've had good experiences with them on steel out to 800 and pretty good on paper out to 300. I've never put them on paper farther, yet. I'll be trying them in a new Urbanrifleman Wilson barrel that I just screwed on. I'll start sometime next week. I hope to get them on a Shot Marker in the next month or so. I'm getting low on CFE223 so I'll probably move to SW Match Rifle or VV135.

For what I use CFE223 for, I quit looking at numbers and let the target tell me. I will run some over the chrono later, sometimes good sometimes not.

As others mention I take the dose of salts before using a burn chart. Seems like if you look long enough at various charts, you can find something that would agree with your wants.
I have about discarded many thoughts on temp sensitivity on some powders.
