HBN COATING ?

Watching several videos on U-tube about bullet coating. Mostly HBN. It seems as if these guys begin the coating but with little to no follow-up. Some will describe a huge plan to experiment further but not much is heard from them after that initial start. My question is " Well does it work good enough that they don't want to say any more about it or did they find a fly in the ointment that they can't over come with more testing ? All opinions welcome.

Bill, I don't use hbn. But rather ws2. I've been using it since I think 2007 but I honestly can't tell you of any downside to using it, other than the simple process of coating them and I typically do 1000 at a time. Easy peasy job. I find reduced fouling and longer intervals between cleaning as my only reasons for doing it but it's been pretty impressive in that regard. I can see no difference in how it shoots, otherwise.

I do the same thing on my 300wsm. Those guys are coming out fast enough that the WS2 seems to reduce copper fouling to the point that it’s a non-issue.

Hey Bro, what is WS2 ?

Or Wolfram DiSulphide, if you’re from Canadia or Europe
Never heard that but yes, tungsten disulfide. It was sold as or also called Danzac here too. Bill, check with a site called "lower friction. Com"
They have both bullet coatings at reasonable prices. A lb of either will last a few lifetimes.

Oh yea I have some a guy on here gave me awhile back. I have begun to try it out but only in the beginning stages.

Wolfram is the original chemical name for Tungsten, hence the W on the periodic table, but it’s still used in many places with royalty in their money.
Ahh.... Makes sense. I always wondered why tungsten was W. Lol! Even as far back as high school or maybe sooner, I've only known it as one thing, but thanks. I learned something.

I've used HBN since I started competing in 2013. The only thing I've noticed is that it makes the barrel easier to clean and that's about it. I've never had to increase my powder charge like some people will tell you because it lowers friction, and you have to increase your powder charge. I chrono every time I shoot at my house and the numbers don't lie.
