6BR vs 6BRAI !

Just curious here ! I’ve thought about a 6BRAI , but as I look at powder charge and velocity they are almost identical to 6BR. I see a lot of guys using around 30 of Varget which is the classic load for 6BR . So why switch with such a small increase in performance , if there is even one at all ?

Thx

Mark
Curious as to what you’re calling “nearly identical velocity” between the 6BR and 6BRAI.

Well being different is my place in life .
I had a BR think it was Dandy at 600 yard's.
Never tried anything beyond that .

I am now a Two Dasher Man .
Have shot the Dasher at 1000 F/Open Need to work but do able .
I think they are flexible in Bullet Weight and Velocity . There is Brass now available, No Fire Forming a plus .

here are a few other references

I’m not Bart! I think some may have to do with distance! The most I will be shooting is 600 yards and not sure if there’s gonna be any difference or not, I know speed is speed but for that distance I am hoping my six BR will do just as well.
6BR is great. Nothing in the world wrong with it.

My point to the OP was they are not the same. They are different animals.

I have a 6BRA that is strictly a varmint rifle....Groundhogs and crows.
I am shooting 58gr. V-Max out of it and am getting a tad over 3900fps.

It only has a little over 600rds. on it so far and I am hoping for it to go several more.

I have both. I was an early adapter to the BRA. no real load info yet, no options for brass, Reamer specs, etc. It's all sorted out now, brass, reamers, dies, load options. My 6BRA runs about 120 fps faster with the same bullet. Like Bart said, the speeds some guys are getting with a straight BR are getting stepped on pretty hard. I Still shoot the BR but mostly the BRA in matches. That extra boiler room helps.

"Terry" said it best.

Over the past 15 years I have chased every 6mm rabbit hole, from BR "Improved" to x47 and Creedmoor, because I bought into a lot of hype from this forum.
I have just "come home" to the straight BR, after wasting a lot of time, effort and money on components and barrels.

Velocity over 3,000fps is easily attainable in the original BR with 107gr bullets at comfortable pressures with the right powder. I'm not going to say which one, because it's already too hard to find.

I guess you could call it 6BR"E" (easy)

I find this hard to believe, but yet I'm not saying it can't be done. Now I may take the mission on of running Quickload with every powder possible to see 3000fps out of my 6br. I do have a question, what is this comfortable pressure that you speak of, near maximum, over? Also what length of freebore is your barrel chambered too?

In post #9 I referenced this side of the Mississippi. I did that for a reason.

What guys can shoot and get away with out west is way different then what we can shoot over here.
