6BR vs all modified versions ?

It's been a while since I posted here due to health.
However, I am putting together a "Walk About" rifle and want to see what the current wisdom is on the 6BR and it's modified versions.
I intend to buy my own reamer, so I can keep things tight in the rifles I will be building.

Question: If the only increase in velocity of the modified cases is around 150 fps if that, why is that considered such a great advantage in 600 to 1000 yard competition and the standard 6BR usually referred to here as a 600 yd competitor, confusing.

There is only 2 things that beat the wind....BC or speed. Believe it or not that 150 fps makes a difference.

The Dasher seems to be the perfect blend of speed and accuracy. For a varmint rifle I'd stick with a no-turn 6br.

I am with Judd, 150 f/s makes a difference with heavy bullets. But if you are building a Varmint gun shooting light bullets, stay with a 6BR. I have both 6BR and 6BRX, fast and slow twist barrels. For varmint I like a 6BR 12 tw shooting 70gr Blitzkings or 87gr Vmax.

I have found another advantage to the dasher. Since it's .100" longer (to the shoulder) than the BR, it's easier to get it to feed if you want a repeater. To me "walk around rifle" = repeater.

There is a big difference once you get past 600 yards. The winds play with the bullet more and the bullet is slowing down more. That extra 100 to 150 feet a second means a lot at 1000. Make sure you tell Bat your doing a 6 BR or Dasher because you need the Sako style extractor or it wont eject very good. Matt
