I am so glad you have responded to this rumor. It is very helpful. I was also doubtful that Lapua would stop producing rimfire ammunition at which they are one of the two top producers for high level ammunition. I can see how centerfire could be affected, but they'll probably double down on rimfire given their sponsorships and presence in main events.

Im sure its not easy to convert a rimfire facility over to centerfire production so why stop running a cash cow?

Kevin, looked up your bio and your shooting accomplishments are amazing. Since you have the inside info on Lapau's rimfire production I was wondering which distributor you are getting ammo from. The ones I have contacted or have backorders with don't really have a viable date they can give me of when they will be receiving their next shipments of Midas Plus. Thanks.
Well, I didn't know that there was a reason to ask anyone about it...I was primarily looking for enough quality ammo to put through the two new barrels on the V22S rifles so it's make sense to make an appointment to get them tested in Mesa. I don't know whether I just got lucky with this lot, or if they've somehow upped the quality of the SK ammo line.
Not sure what you are saying here, but no rimfire production facility was converted to the manufacturing of surplus centerfire brass.
Rimfire production is a stand alone operation.

Being sponsored, I typically go to a test center and test whatever is available at that moment (just like everyone else).
The past few seasons though (2021 and 2022), I did my own testing just because the test centers were so busy, and I didn't want to take the space a customer could occupy. I am fortunate enough to have access to a 50m indoor range near my home - so I do the old-fashioned holes in paper approach! LOL
If you call Shane at the Marengo test center he would probably have a pretty good idea when the next container might arrive. The market has been crazy the past few years as everyone knows - and inventory has been very difficult to maintain. I'm not completely sure why. This market pressure will ease at some point, your guess is as good as mine as to when.

FWIW I can tell you SK Rifle & Lapua CX are shipping for sure. Like anything it's limited and goes fast but I've gotten orders for both in the last few months.
This has been a interesting thread as I didn’t know they had this test facility at Winters Tx. I noticed on on there website they have some cheaper .22 ammo called Impact and Force, is this any better than other regular ammo?

F Class John, what are you doing in a 22 rimfire thread? I really appreciate the videos you put on YouTube. Informative and keep all of us up to date on the newest products. I started shooting F Class about a 2 years ago and its taken that long to realize I can’t read the wind any better than I can read a newspaper at 100 yds. Just gotta keep shooting matches till I can learn the ropes. Keep posting those videos and thanks. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. This is a great site with some really good information and a lot of really good shooters.
Thank you. Yeah I'm totally addicted to Rimfire Benhrest and NRL22 now. I have a fully built RimX (after buying and selling a Vudoo, Bergara and CZ this year) and it's super addicting. It's actually been a double blessing because not only is it stupidly fun and no reloading involved (which is a nice relief to my brain once in a while) but it's also shown me where some of my position deficiencies are and allows me to work on them easily. It's amazing how unforgiving 22lr shooting is at 100yds compared to even centerfire at 600 so I'm loving how it's helping me.
Where there problems with the ones you sold off?
Nothing wrong at all. They’re all good but I struggled with the feeding a bit on the Vudoo and it felt clunky to me. CZ was smooth and love the small mags in fact if I hadn’t gotten a deal on a used Rimx I would still be shooting it. Bergara was nice and good gun for the money but just didn’t enjoy it. I seriously can’t say enough about the Rimx. It’s crazy smooth, never fails to feed because of the way it has a controlled round feed and is literally the most accurate 22 I’ve ever shot out of the four. I also really like the fact that it utilizes a shouldered barrel, which was always my weird hangup with the CZ.
