Gunsmith Lathe with DRO

The DRO is not configured. Ugh. So, there is that!!

I am still trying to figure out how to shift the threading gears also. It's not happy running or not running. I think maybe it might like being in neutral between inch and metric.

I guess the PM1440GT has a 4 tpi screw then. My 1340GT has the 8 tpi and will cut 13 tpi, but not 11.5, which I had to make a change gear for.

My ideal tool room lathe would have variable freqency drive, no gearbox, electronic lead screw/threading, 13x40 bed, 16C collet ready spindle, A2-5 chuck mount, spindle 15 inches or less long, 4-5000 lbs weight. Scale resolution to tenths on both axis. Digital readout on the tailstock quill. Coolant system. Build it and I will buy it.

With current DC motor tech.... a direct drive system is not totally out of the question.... and it could be super quiet.
