An engine lathe is an engine lathe is an engine lathe! They all work the same way, it's just the levers and buttons might be placed differently from one to the other.

On some the halfnut lever works on the upward swing and some you push down. This old man has to remember that.

In 2002 I bought a Clausing 5913 at auction and got it delivered the same day.
In 2009 I ordered a Precision Matthews 1236 with DRO, and it arrived in 107 days.

This is by far the TIGHTEST machine I have ever felt. There is simply no slop in the controls.

The DRO is the magnetic version not optical.

The chucks are made in Poland.

This thing has barely been run.

The Colchesters are similar. Just change a lever or 3. In the manual if you have a metric leade screw you need to leave the half nut engaged to cut imperial

It's common to units that have both imperial and metric threading in the gearbox is you will need to leave the carriage engaged to the leadscrew and reverse when doing metric. There are workarounds but reversing is the most common method.
