7mm Berger Classic Hunter vs VLD Hunting Bullet

I’ve got a load worked up for my wife’s 7mm Rem Mag with a Berger 168 grain Classic Hunter bullet and I’m down to my last 100 bullets for them. I’m curious if the same powder charge would work for the Berger 168 grain VLD Hunting bullet and then I may need to adjust the seating depth. I know the BC are slightly better with the VLD’s and I can find the VLDs now. Thanks in advance for any help.

My experience, the VLD likes it up close & personal to the lands.
Possibly raising pressures.

Both are accurate in my rifles, but i've only taken game with the VLD.
If using the VLD, don't hit bone.
Put in the boiler room they do tremendous internal damage!

Yes, but he's going from the longer bearing surface of the Classic Hunter to the shorter surface VLD.
Which should reduce pressure.

What raises pressure with the VLD is the lack of jump that they seem to prefer.

For a hunting rifle i'd probable drop 1/2 a grain of powder, and seat the VLD 0.010" off the lands (if you have room in the magazine) and ladder test back up to the charge you were at.

The short distance to the lands have been consistant for me with 3 different manufacturers of rifles.
I haven't seen, but have heard some like it 0.060-0.090" off the lands.

100 of the Classic Hunters should be way more than enough to get her through hunting season.
