"Assault Weapons" Ban Passes the House

Contacting my Senators on this issue is an absolute waste of time and effort - both are Democrats. I have contacted them many times in the past and if I get any response , it is some BS about them doing their best for whole country. It, doesn't matter whether it's guns, "green", electric cars, etc. The Senators and Rep's who believe as we do, are already on "our side" and vote accordingly. To the others - we are the enemy, the people they are aiming the legislation at and they won't be dissuaded by letters and emails, from us. Our only hope in the long run, is at the ballot box. Unfortunately, I am also getting pretty cynical about that too.

A lot of these commies in Wash DC were there when Clinton passed the same type of law on "Assault Weapons" and crime went up, criminals still used them and got away with their crimes, while the only ones it effected were the honest and lawful firearms owner.
Yet these same politicians forget that and foolishly believe passing another "Assault Weapon" law will stop attacks, killings and possession by criminals. They just never wake up and learn from their pass mistakes, all the while aiding the criminal and giving them easy targets to prey on.
They are just so ignorant, it is scary, yet they have the power to continue their wants.

Don’t forget that the ones who were there and passed that ban, also allowed it to expire.

Political football

What is the definition of an Assault Semi Automatic weapon and Large capacity magazines…..hell that can’t define what a woman is or what a recession is. Every weapon can be defined as an assault weapon. Saw a Alfred Hitchcock program on TV in the 60 era where a wife killed her husband by hitting him over the head with a frozen leg of lamb…now That is assault in any form or manner of definition.
Excellent point. An "assault" is an activity done by a "living animate" creature upon
another "living animate" creature.
A "firearm" is an "inanimate object" incapable of doing anything on it's own.
Therefore, a "firearm" CANNOT COMMIT an ASSAULT But it CAN BE USED to
commit an assault and so can ANYTHING ELSE!

A FULLY LOADED firearm can be laid on a surface and if left untouched for oh
say 50 or 75 or 100 years, it will do NOTHING on it's own except maybe rust and deteriorate. THAT whole Word Game is a BRAINWASHING CON!

I never in my life thought alot of things, but this administration has opened my eyes. 99.9% of those in powerful office seats would wipe their asses with the Constitution if given a chance. I don't know what the answer is anymore. Other then everyone pick a side, war doesn't end until one side is completely wiped out.

Oh how I remember G.W Bush state that "The Constitution is Nothing but a
GxxDamn Piece of Paper"!!

I think some of you need to remember that the gun lobby gives MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF MONEY to both republicans and democrats. There is no way they are going to ban the most popular firearm in America without giving up all that MONEY and starting a civil war. It's not going to happen. At the very worst, they might make them NFA items, which means they make more MONEY via a $200 tax stamp, but they're not going to ban them.

Kinda funny how republicans have passed more gun control than the dems and some of those with the R next to their name still hold office and, dems propose gun control in an election year but I still have all my guns and they're still in office.

excerpt:

“(v) (1) It shall be unlawful for a person to import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess, in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce, a semiautomatic assault weapon.
“(2) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to the possession, sale, or transfer of any semiautomatic assault weapon otherwise lawfully possessed under Federal law on the date of enactment of the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022.
Ummm...what if paragraph 2 happens to be deleted from the Senate bill?

Say it ain’t so. Possible collusion between those on opposite sides of the political aisle?
Why the implications could be preposterous. Next thing we’ll start believing is that court cases are actually decided on golf courses.
Oh My, what is our world coming to?

the 1300$ mandatory buyback in the news was canada.

This bill grandfathers possession and transfer of existing guns.
at least possession of mags. not sure about xfer

It also enables some money for optional buybacks.
I think at local levels.

Or aa, secure storage. Essentially says you can't keep the grandfathered weapon if anyone who is prohibited from possessing could access it(this would include theft). So it must be on your person or locked up. If not than it could be taken.
