If the presidential election was determined via popular vote, Los Angeles and New York will pick all the presidents from now on.

I’m with you, except for that ^ part. It’s winner take all in close states like Texas that’s saving the outcomes. Al Gore and Hillary Clinton received more votes than G W Bush and D Trump. In Hillary’s case, it was like 5 million. The fact that Democrats are tightly concentrated is actually helping 2A, like you say. The straight up “popular vote” would elect more Dem presidents.

This isn’t a legal opinion, just my own (I say that because I am lawyer). The concern is that the Forum would be construed as a covered entity under the new law, one that is indeed focusing on the 2A industry here. That’s why movie studios, rappers, authors, gamers and so on, likely don’t think they are going to be affected - or mere individuals expressing themselves. FB, etc., probably also consider themselves outside coverage.

Think of it like the “tobacco industry” being barred from appealing to minors, although we could all as individuals express whatever we wanted to on the subject of tobacco. (The analogy is only to an industry’s members being covered, not subject matter, - youth-recreational shooting is not an illegal activity in CA, nor considered an “unhealthy” activity anywhere, and is in no way analogous to underage tobacco use, obviously).

Unfortunately, there are two itty bitty dots at the eastern end of the state, one is Omaha, the other is the liberal enclave known as Lincoln. The problem with Omaha is that its electoral votes are separate from those of the rest of the state, so even though the the state as a whole is clearly red, Omaha can still provide electoral votes to the dark [blue] side.
We have the same problem here in "Zona" , with AS,who ?, UofA , and NAU ! The radical leftist indoctrinated Gen Zer's almost out-number the citizens , and of course they are supported by the Dem-on-crats in Phx. , Tucson , and Flagstaff . How ironic ; that we have one of the largest , and best structured shooting facilities in the world , in Ben Avery ! State and privately owned and operated by the Arizona Fish & Game Dept.

Funny, the liberal anti-gun California based companies like Instagram and Facebook don't seem to have a problem with me posting picture of my daughter and I shooting matches together and her winning trophies. I even hashtag the crap out of the photos to explicitly make it clear that it's firearm and competition related.

Sad that we aren't allowed to mention that on here.

The new AB 2571 law is so vague that we have to take protective measures. There can be a $25000 penalty for any firearm-related content that might be "attractive to a minor".

And the statute does not even require that an actual gun be shown or referenced. The forbidden content can relate to any "firearm-related product" which is very broadly defined.

(c)(5) “Firearm-related product” means a firearm, ammunition, reloaded ammunition, a firearm precursor part, a firearm component, or a firearm accessory that meets any of the following conditions:

(c)(3) “Firearm accessory” means an attachment or device designed or adapted to be inserted into, affixed onto, or used in conjunction with, a firearm which is designed, intended, or functions to alter or enhance the firing capabilities of a firearm, the lethality of the firearm, or a shooter’s ability to hold, carry, or use a firearm.

Forum Boss: The law would apply to any persons/companies sending information into California... NOT just California residents/businesses.
That is why we see that Prop 65 BS on everything. If they could figure out how to put a label warning on air, they would require that too.

A firearm industry member shall not advertise, market, or arrange for placement of an advertising or marketing communication concerning any firearm-related product in a manner that… reasonably appears to be attractive to minors.

"reasonably appears to be attractive to minors."

Every one of those words is at least somewhat vague, ambiguous, or subjective. Used together they work pretty well to create a non-definition.

If these are the types of future laws that we are going to be judged by -- we are in big trouble. jd

Gotta wonder how this bill will affect the film and music industries in California...
What about all the Video games......and just how are they (Cal.) going to get the under 18 group into a Firearm Safety Class that is required for hunting ??????

Ok, I'm really not trying to stir the pot, but how can this be applied to private citizens posting on a forum. Those that have an FFL or other related business may be in jeopardy, but just a private citizen, I think would be safe..... Just trying to understand like everyone else is.

Forum Boss: Under the AB 2571 statute a member of a shooting club or association could be liable even if he/she is not engaged in any kind of commercial sales. That is why some clubs are shutting down their youth training programs. Parties can be liable if:

(B) A person, firm, corporation, company, partnership, society, joint stock company, or any other entity or association formed for the express purpose of promoting, encouraging, or advocating for the purchase, use, or ownership of firearm-related products that does one of the following:
(i) Advertises firearm-related products.
(ii) Advertises events where firearm-related products are sold or used.
(iii) Endorses specific firearm-related products.
(iv) Sponsors or otherwise promotes events at which firearm-related products are sold or used.

Boss, i always report about Hunting and Fishing day, all about youth , and the Groundhog shoot that has youth shooters in it. I will refrain from reporting on any of these other than dates it's happening in order to not bring you any grief. God bless our country and prayers your state has changes.

I asked the same question. Notice how my post is no longer on the thread.

If this kind of stuff sticks, it is truly a shame. We all know the future of the sport depends on the next generation being interested/involved, so things like this will definitely hurt.

Saddening to say the least!

I was a minor once. All guns and gun mods are attractive to minors that like guns. So I guess you need to delete every post about firearms. Granted, those are not the norm around here anymore anyway. More arguing about Covid or electric cars or scuba diving or some other nonsense.

I’m not going to change a thing about how I post for unconstitutional laws in a state I don’t live in. Ban me or don’t

I know most of the tech companies are in commiefornia, but couldn't we turn off the internet to them like china does to its people?

Forum Boss: That is the plan. We are working on that solution.
I know you meant the forum, but can we just cut cali out of the whole internet for just a "little" while?

This forum allows discussion of a Prius but not closing of Starbucks. No talk about our pride and joy ( children) training them correctly and spending time with them so they don’t turn into “tat” faced monsters. Makes perfect sense to me.

Wouldn’t a good ‘ole Warning label work? “This content is not to be read by people in California. It’s too dangerous!”

California is truly a cancer. And for more years than I can remember that cancer has been spreading across the country, literally through people leaving the state and taking their politics with them and figuratively through media and tech.
