Cz 457 mtr eley match, center x, sk pistol match, sk rifle match

Picked up my 2nd cz457 an vpt-mtr shot well but noticed eley brand was harder to close the bolt and had extraction issues with them Lapua,sk and tac22 all shot and functioned fine. Called cz-usa and was told my chamber was cut for lapua not eley the only eley that will function well is club . Anyone else heard of this

I shot eley match in some of my accuracy testing early on shot accurate. Had issues with how much lube and the mess it left in chamber and breech, bolt face. It would chamber like butter for 20 ish rounds then i would have to start palming the bolt closed harder and harder. Wipe off bolt face and it would go back to butter smooth for another 20 or so. I have not shot eley again. I never had a extraction issue with any of the ammo. Have bricks of it sitting. My go to is anything lapua or sk branded. Shoots extremely accurately in my rifle and i can shoot bricks of it and rifle is cleaner than shooting a few rounds of eley. Like anything else cz is a mass produced rifle and barrels are a gamble on accuracy. I always feel a slight resistance closing the bolt as the headspace is a little tighter than most average chambers with the MTR as n the bullet is engraving the lands upon closing that is normal.

Accuracy was not a problem I guess I should have worded if better it was ejection ...yeah mine shof and liked lapua ,sk , rws and tac 22 well

Just saw the article in the Bulletin about the CZ 457 Varmint MTR and then found this thread and will be watching. Beautiful rifle for the price!

I've been shooting Eley Black in my CZ 457 with very little wax buildup. Shoots good, but a close 2nd is the Norma TAC. Center X does well from it also.
You must have a good lot. My eley black was horrible for lube build up. From magazine, bolt, chamber. Shot accurate tho ifi wanted to keep wiping the bolt off every 20 rounds. Curious of lot number on your Eley match?

Not sure if it has anything to do with this issue, but when I'm loading the magazine I'm careful to not touch the bullet and use the rim to slide the round into the mag. If I do happen to "smudge" the wax, I'll carefully wipe it smooth before continuing to load.

Crazy yeah mine is all 2021 manufactured. I dont shoot it anymore sits on the shelf. I posted pics on this thread of the buildup. A while back.
I saw it. I wondered what the issue could be as well. There is a good coating of wax on them, just wondering if taking extreme care to not smudge up a glob on the bullet may help it to not catch and scrape off as it goes into battery may help?

Been a while since i have been shooting. Shot a match today, finished up my 150 yard testing before the match, re-did the lapua center x test since it was pretty much raining on first attempt. Shot #19 -25 targets at 150 yards very happy with results! My ARA targets from todays match. Shot 2 factory targets 2500 9x and a 2500 7x shot one unlimited 1800 7x all in all a great day with 9 shooters on the line. Cz 457 MTR is getting after it!

Heck yeah! Since I last posted on this thread I've also tested more and tried Center X as well. It shoots great and helped me win a fun shoot at my local range last month even. But I'm still not shooting close to what you've been able to do! I shot a 2210 and that's the best I've been able to do so far. I'm still looking for more ammo to test as I can find it tho.

Just keep practicing more trigger time. 2200 is not bad at all. If you are shooting a MTR rear bag setup is critical for me. With the cast in the stock need to make sure you dont torque the rifle. For me it will throw shots. Took me a few months to figure out. I started out shooting in the 2200 to 2300 range. I seem to have my meathod dialed in now and rifle flat out shoots. Good luck with your setup i shoot anything sk/lapua branded in mine

As always those at the top didn't start out there, lots of work and paying attention to details.

Did pretty good shot a 246 3x on the ibs50 side of the match (should have done better ) and won the 175,200,250 yard match came home with 70 dollars in my pocket so overall a good day . My vpt-mtr is loving lapua center x

What size are the targets at 175 200 250? Nice shooting by the way
