Varget at $49.99/lb Complaint Thread

WOW, Hodgdons now has Varget for ”Sale” directly at $49.99 per pound. You can pick it up on their website. For me, my kiester hurts too much from being taken advantage of at that price. No reason on God’s Green Earth for that kind of pricing other than the fact that they can get away with it.

There are other powders that seem to work. The way to see lower prices is to refuse to jump at sucker bait pricing.

Forum Boss: Hodgdon Powder is now SOLD OUT at Hodgdon.com. The $49.99 price was cheaper than most other sellers.

It was $60/lb at a gun store I visited a couple of weeks ago. They also had H4350 for the same price. Lots in stock. Too rich for me. $4.50 gas and $5.50 diesel are cutting into my shooting budget.

I bought 5# a few days ago.
$300 with shipping and Hazmat.

Now watch IMR4166 shoot smaller.

I don't know what the new price is or where it will be a year from now but I am still buying stuff when I can get it. I want to keep shooting and will continue to buy components if it keeps me doing what I love doing. I will be going to Deep Creek a few times this summer and will be paying over $5.00 a gallon for fuel. I don't like that either but it certainly wont stop me.

Totally agree. If I want to shoot I'll pay the price. I'm feeling this is really gonna be the new normal. Always has been when prices go up, it's really rare they come back down....

With tac at $30.99lb and imr4064 at $33lb among others locally I cant see paying that kind of premium for varget. Dont get me wrong I like varget in my 22-250 and 308 but there are alternatives available that are much easier to find for reasonable prices.

If components are on the shelf now, they got made and through the system before the recent surges in fuel and metal prices. Plus, every single item of manufacture and delivery arrives on diesel, and the worst predictions get close to $10 gal before the end of the year. European prices are already near $9.00/gallon.

I really wish it wasn't so, but I think the new normal hasn't even arrived yet.

I bought it because I needed Varget. After looking for it over a year, I was happy to find it. Sure it cost more, but now I won't be spending my more expensive time chasing my tail looking.

I'm sure I save money by not redoing loads on 4 barrels that love Varget. I'll bet the cost of trying new components for those barrels will exceed my paying XXX
dollars extra for the real thing.
