Start trying to order both and let the deal or availability decide? Thanks for the info. I am either buying a tikka or cz mtr. Just can’t decide lol
Thinking hard of getting into some rimfire shooting. Looking for a good quality gun that I could shoot at the range and could possibly be able to do ok in like a factory class match for fun. Don’t want to spend a fortune but don’t want junk either. Any suggestions would be appreciated thank you.
Based on suggestions I received, I went to purchase a Bergara BMR. The gun store had one with the carbon wrapped barrel and one without. He handed me the carbon wrapped one first and the action felt like they forgot to finish it - rough metal against rough metal is what it felt like. The second one with the steel barrel felt as slick or slicker than a CZ. Based on the difference of the two I can only imagine that Quality Control was sleeping when the carbon one went by.One more question. Is any one shooting a bergara Bmr. They look like a nice option in the same price range as the tikka and 457

I personally won't be buying a Bergara, perhaps I am too skittish. I am looking hard at a used Anshutz and I would also look at the 457 CZ precision trainer. With the trainer you get a nice Manners stock and as you advance, you always have the option of easily swapping in a barrel upgrade.
Like you, I am new at this with limited experience. But if I had paid $1100 for a Bergara online and got the rough action I felt - I would have puked.
I figured we are alike. I want the level of quality I pay for. I bought an Anschutz 1416 with a threaded barrel that has had 300 rounds through it at a good/fair price off the rimfire central forum classifieds. It's a compromise because it's not a heavy rifle you would shoot off bipods or rests, but I'm still excited. You might want to check those classifieds. Thanks for the help

Thanks for the infoHad the T1x and sold and went to the cz457. The CZ seems a little better in build quality. Also one thing I don't see much talked about is the T1x barrels are a nightmare to change if you ever decide to do so.
That’s the problem I can’t find one lolWhere can you purchase a CZ 457 MTR Varmint ?
Hmmm, I wish that were true, out of the box proformance, all mine didn't, after several mod's, trigger, bedding, barrel, then yes, very close. Most CZ's will hang with my Anschutz any day of the week
Mark M, you will please note, I said "most" ....Hmmm, I wish that were true, out of the box proformance, all mine didn't, after several mod's, trigger, bedding, barrel, then yes, very close.
Pay now or pay later with mod's
Why are the barrels so difficult to change on the Tikka T1x? A little more info about the difficulty would be appreciated.Had the T1x and sold and went to the cz457. I was curious too. So I ran a search and wound up at Sniper's Hide. This was a pretty good read with great pictures. Why are the barrels so difficult to change on the Tikka T1x? A little more info about the difficulty would be appreciated.

It turns out a lot of them are glued in. There are some videos on YouTube with more info. It also seemed like the set screws were glued in. I'm sure it can be done, but not easily. Why are the barrels so difficult to change on the Tikka T1x? A little more info about the difficulty would be appreciated.
