Tack Driver III

Stan I ran a modified 30x47 called the Jaguar 2 that Sid chambered me and I used it only at 200 & 300 yards and meters from 2016 to when the barrel gave up on me in 2018. I did pretty well with it. Was running 43.5-44.0 of 133 with a 16TW Hart using a 112 Bart. at 3225fps. I tried 135 in it and wasn't getting the accuracy I was getting with the 133. Federal 205's did not cut it either in that cartridge. When I changed to a BR4 the groups shrunk immediately. Cline had Ronnie Long chamber him a 30x47 barrel and he gave up on it. It just wouldn't perform for him.
I have a 15 twist ready to chamber for the 30 x47 lapua case and quite a few of 135 grain 10 x bullets to try I want to start tuning while it’s relatively cool because of what it could be there in November.
Now is the time to start tuning in wind for an event such as this.

All joking aside I’m really excited to shoot against the best of the best in the short range I know it will be a tall order for me but I’m going to definitely work on it.
Stan. I am truly glad that your going to give it a shot this year. I hope that I can meet you in person at some shoot this year. When you shoot against me you won't be shooting against the best of the best, it's more like the mediocre of the mediocre. Just take it easy on me and don't make me look too bad because i can do that all by myself thank you. LMFAO! I'm looking forward to shooting this year because Bob Scarborough said my new rifle will be ready in another 2 to 3 weeks. It's only been 15 month's in the works.

ATTENTION ALL SHOOTERS! I just recieved a phone call that ALEX WHEELER has put up a $1,000 additional prize for the AGGREGATE winner at the Tack Driver III! I am blown away at the support this match has gained and hope everyone appreciates the support as much as I do. Now all you LONG RANGE guys come show the Group and Score people how it's done! The main question is will Roy, Jeff and Wayne add to their autographed shirt collection? Stay tuned for the live results again in November!

Alex,
I greatly appreciate your generosity and support of this match and our shooting sports.
Theres more to this story. That donation is every bit if not more so from Roy Hunter. Just so everyone knows that.

We’ll guys I’m ready to start playing Saturday with my 30 x47 lapua with the 135 grain 10 x bullets anyone got any starting loads with 8208 to start mildly I don’t like hitting brass with a full house load that’s what destroys brass.

I'm also a fan of the 30x47 is it the 30x47 based off the savage or the 30x47L. I was also wondering what kind of accuracy your getting out of your 30x47?

I haven’t done enough testing to see if it’s going to be a winner at Tac Driver III I have two cartridges but I will be playing with and which ever give me the best response in the wind in groups that is what I will be taking.
My other cartridge is called 6x47 Nightbird 40 degrees.
Here are the 2 cases side by side.

The 6.5x47 LAPUA is a veritable clone of the 'tried and true' 30x47HBR, which was originally based 0n the .300 Savage, with the shoulder set-back to create a longer neck.
The only difference worth discussion is the 'web' diameter, or, the diameter @ 0.200" ahead of the bolt-face: On the original 30x47 HBR , by Dan Green, Forgreen's Tool Mfg., Inc, this dimension was 0.467" (the virgin .300 Savage brass was about <0.464"); for the approximately >0.469" (-0/+.0005") Dia. 6.5x47 LAPUA brass, Hugh Henriksen ground this dimension @ 0.4715"(-0/+.0005").
Oh, and the LAPUA case employs small primers - in my experience, a good thing, as I collected the vast majority of my fake wood via the D.Green reamer, while using Remington .308UBR (small primer) brass. Either version is capable of extreme precision. RG

Years ago, I had a full 308 with no freebore in a 1-17 twist barrel. It was the second best shooting HBR rifle I have owned. I shot it for 4 or five years. The best shooting Hunter rifle I owned I sold to Francis B. I once shot a 249-23X with it. The 308 was a beast to shoot but it was very accurate and seemed to stay in tune all day. I'd never go back to one however. I never learned to love the BOMB.

We’ll like I said in a previous post, I will be concentrating on these 2 cartridges for the Tack Driver III ,the 30x47 135 grain 10X bullets and Barts 103 Hammers in my 6x47 40 degrees Nightbirde ,I blown out brass for it today the barrel tells it wants to shoot first 18 rounds at a 100 yds give me this with some old Berger that would not perform for me in another barrel.AD149265-25FF-48B4-BB42-AE8CB6657D11.jpeg
