F TR..308 Win 4 groove vs. 5R

They just don’t want to indicate it.
I like 5rs in 6.5mm-.338. But I prefer a 4 in a 6mm. I like Bartliens so I special order the 6mm in 4g. If a barrel is made well and the grooves are even they are easy to dial in. What makes a barrel hard to dial in is uneven lands and grooves. I wont refuse a 5r (not even close) but I will refuse low end blanks. I probably chamber an equal amount of 5r barrels as 4 grooves.

You saying a barrel is easy to dial in is like saying Michael Shumacher could drive a car, though. For your average dude with a lathe, they seem to take longer.

Hey Elwood! Thanks for the extra information. Didn't take anything in a bad way at all so please don't think that. I was looking for more information to try and help/figure out what was/is going on.

I don't use brushes either.

Try some Remington 40x bore cleaner. After cleaning the barrel to get the copper out and you dry patch the bore get a patch soaked with the 40x cleaner and stroke the barrel 10x with that one patch and you can short stroke the throat area especially later on in the barrel life. I feel the 40x cleaner works better on the carbon fouling and will also remove residual traces of copper as well but the 40x cleaner isn't as aggressive as a paste cleaner. Don't recommend paste cleaners for the most part at all.

Rem. 40x cleaner years ago use to be called Gold Medallion.

Later, Frank
Oh no, my favorite bore cleaner, Rem 40x has been mentioned by a prominent barrel maker. Maybe, just maybe, this thread won't magically get locked! You are really skipping over a great product if you don't give it a try.

Love to do this 5R ? Like Women Not all the Same . Boots Obermeyer's 5R has small r after it .
Kreiger is licensed to make that 5R .
I have a 6mm 1-7.5 5R from Kreiger and have had many of Boot's over the Years.
They all work just fine. Like Red Heads and Blonds .
And it all started with the Russians .
