.308 win F/TR chamber

What i meant was the increase in charge weight and drop in MV.....not sure if it was a chrony issue or if it just happens sometimes. Thanks for the link, I've never used that site. I have used JBM and have applied ballistics app....but I really haven't messed around with any of that yet with this rifle

In MY experience (emphasized because people will argue about this until the cows come home) - The spot where the velocity flattens out or dips a little bit, is the spot I want to be, and I tune around that. I don't shoot BR. I shoot F-Class so take that for what it's worth. In my first image, 44.5 is the load I landed on and used for a very long time across many barrels.

Why does velocity go down? Call it a flat spot, call it positive compensation, I don't know. Tide goes in, tide goes out, can't explain that. I just know it is useful information for ME.

Interesting. Thank you. Well, given my current schedule, not sure if it will ever get back into F-class, its more of a tinkering thing and for when I go out west and take the guns along to stretch the distance. Have you found that to be the case for all powders or just what you are shooting in that rifle?

Got ya. I'm now out of the 215s and will find some SMKs in 200 and 230s and get some alpha brass. With the barrel broke in, i want to set aside this federal gold medal brass I have amassed over the years and try some good brass in it as I've never tried alpha.

Do you have berger 200 hybrids? DM me your address and I'll send you a bag of sorted and pointed hybrids.

Been an extremely hectic last month. Last few days I have been able to get the .308 out and have a little fun. Been testing the 2231 sierra with N150 and Accurate 4350 (slow i know, but I have 8 pounds of it, so might as well try it). I found a load with N150 that printed a 3/8" group, but it was a low charge and am working my way up. With the accurate 4350, i messed around a little today and had a case full of powder and did a little velocity testing between 2 different primers. Same charge of 4350 but one with FGM210M and the other with FGM215M. The 215M had an increase of 54 ft/s. Hopefully tomorrow i will try the other 2 powder charges with N150. Once I find a nice load with that 200/N150 combo, i want to try the 230 SMKs next.

Took the rifle out to test a couple different loads with different primers. All loads were with 2231 sierra 200 grain at 3.242". First load used FGM 215 with H4350 with a High 2618, Low 2578, average 2597, ES 40....forgot to record SD. Same load with FGM210 had a High 2533, Low 2507, Avg 2516, ES 26, SD 8.2. With N150, i only chrono'd the FGM210 with a High 2567, Low 2555, Avg 2562, ES 12, SD 4.3. That last load with N150, the brass was 19x fired and still holding strong.

Finally got around to buying some Alpha OCD brass for .308 Winchester. I was originally going to buy LRP, but decided to give SRP a try since I have never used it in .308. I will say that this is some awesome brass, I would have to say that it is better than my Lapua 6BR brass. Also, in my previous .308 brass which was FC gold medal match, where a previous charge of H4350 with a 200 sierra 2231 was a heavily compressed charge, I didnt feel any compression with the Alpha brass. Now, I just hope I am able to shoot such good looking brass

Just took 3 separate loads out eith Alpha OCD SRP, CCI450 and 2231 SMK. My previous accurate load with N150 came in second for some reason and shot 1" @110 yards. The best load, after shooting 2 fowler shots, was the H4350 load and sent 5 shots into 3/8" with 4 of them into 1/4". The varget load, which i have done zero testing with shot about 1.5" but I dont feel bad about that. I think i found a winner with H4350.

Not entirely relevant to your interests, but my Savage .308 likes N150 as well with 167g Scenars. This is .67 MOA at 600 yards with them a few summers ago.
