New barreled action coming

I purchased a 1913 Anshutz from a friend that was his Olympic rifle a couple Olympics back. I wanted the barreled action only. I know it is not a BR rifle, but am interested to see how it goes. I have a Terry Leonard stock blank for it. Probably take the taper out of the bottom of the butt stock.
It is only for our club matches.
I did put a tuner on my Walther and hope to work with it tomorrow.

You can get one of two different Anschutz BR-style stocks for the barreled action. Any of the round action Anschutz 54 barreled actions, from the 14xx to the 19xx and 54.30 will work in the BR50 stocks. There are similar stocks available for the square action 20xx series.

Immediately below, a 1913 barreled action in a BR50 followed by a 1907. At bottom is a 1973-vintage 1411 barreled action.

Several of those at my club. Not my cup of tea.
Thanks though

rimfire total dependency on the ammo obtained makes it not my cup of tea
Dub, ain't different than CF. You take the cards that are dealt to you and play them. This is the first time that I have shot RF and love it. It ain't my ammo that has beat me.

Nice shooting.
Jon shot his in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics and in several World Championships. I believe it has a good pedigree.
The Olympic Trials, or the actual Olympics? I thought the 2008 team was Jason Parker, Matt Emmons, and Mike Anti, and in 2012 Mike McPhail, Eric Uptagrafft, Matt Emmons, and Jason Parker.

If you are thinking about shooting the F Class Smallbore 100 yard target - you might want to keep that angle. Easy to slide the rear bag to change target height with the there bull target.

Tim, I didn't know the USA was the only team entered.

I'm surprised being a bloke from the UK that you wouldn't know this.

I met Mike Anti at WVU's rifle facility when he was in town to visit his son, WVU shooter, and to be there to be put in the WVU Hall of Fame. Several years ago Frank Green, Bartlein, was playing with a LH gain twist, 8 groove RF barrel on his on time. He was kind enough to sell Myself and Eric Uptagraff a couple of them.

With 2 plates in my neck I can't lift my head to shoot prone.
I know exactly how you feel. C5 & C6 for me, would have been C7 as well but Doc said I may lose all movement. I shoot heads up and watch my flags, doing this did two things help put less strain on my neck and improved my condition reading.

The 1907 will do very well, I would suggest keeping the firing pin springs replaced on a regular basis.

You didn't say it was Jon Hammond! He was the entire GB Olympic rifle team in 2008!

Not met him myself, but friends know him. My first shoulder to shoulder match as a student was against his former school.

I also have a couple rods between my shoulder blades and 2 in my lower back, but not any more pain.

No I didn't. I just said his barreled action was one that was shot in the Olympics.
Jon is a great guy and I'm hoping one of our forum member's daughter will attend WVU and shoot for Jon and team.

Sorry, I meant that I know who Jon Hammond is, but I'd assumed, wrongly, that you meant a US shooter. I'd forgotten that Jon was still in the US.

From memory, Jon shot a 1913 at Beijing. I strongly suspect it was factory selected. I saw him with a Bleiker in 2012, and I think he was using it when he won the Prone at the 2010 Commonwealths. I have a memory he won the Junior World Championships with a 1913 too, but replaced the barrel afterwards with a Shilen.

Jon said that he used it at both 2008 and 2012 Olympics. He does have a Bleiker now. Jon will be back or is back from his rifle clinic in Florida and photos should show up tomorrow. A Shilen barrel should be a good thing.
Tim, you owe me no apologizes. I do enjoy talking with you. If you pm an email address I will send you photos after Jon sends them.

You're welcome.

I think Jon had the Shilen barrel 20 years ago, so it might not be so good now! From memory Jon was shooting factory 1913s at Beijing, so it may have been past it's best then. No idea who fitted it, but probably Callum Fergusson before he gave up on smallbore.
