Pulled cards for the first time this year and 2 of the 3 year olds, from last year, made it through the season.

Both of them left the farm in late Oct so I’m trying to decide if I want to hunt them or take a chance and see if they squeeze through another year. Lol

I bow hunt my lease so allows me to hunt them while their still on a pattern in Sept.

This was a 4 year old from last year that I was really hoping would make it and kinda planned my season around him for this year.

But he disappeared off camera after Sept 23 and I eventually found him dead, while shed hunting in Feb.
Not exactly sure what happened other than he was wounded on the neighbors and came back over on me.
You don’t see that many deer like this in NC and I’ve only had 2 on the farm of this caliber so bit of a bummer..

Hope everyone’s having good card pulls and things are lining up for the season!

seems that grouse season is going to be quite good. I have seen grouses and capercaillies almost every walk in woods (and I do take those walks quite a lot :D )
This young grouse was still stupid to stay within couple of meters but I know that when season starts next month it will not be this easy to see and shoot these.

You are a lucky man! My cards aren't looking so hot. A couple of fair 8 pointers but no giants.

Any cottage like that has to have a story that goes with it. Any idea of when the structure was built?

Very nice.
Cottage itself is about 200 years old but it has been moved to this location at 2010. I guess that it has been used earlier as storage at farm.
That tower was build for sleeping, I guess that owner likes to sleep at peace.
There was also smoke sauna(chimneyless sauna), it was pity that I did not have time enough to warm it, takes usually about a day to get smoke sauna ready.

Tell us the story behind every cottage in Finland having a mortar beside the door. I had a friend up in Northern Minnesota whom I was up there coyote hunting with one January many years ago. When passing through a very small town, as in blink and you missed it, he mentioned that it was all Finlanders that lived there. He made the comment in his Norske Minnesotan dialect, "those Finn's are a clannish bunch". Never really understood how to take his meaning of that, and never forgot hearing him say it.
