I can’t believe a medical provider asked about guns in my house

@F Class John , an old question here in OR, and the polite answer is "none" with the unsaid part, "...that I'm going to disclose." A lie of omission, sure, but the question is NOTFB.
My son brought my Shooters Bible to his school. Parents freaked out, he was detained, the Principal called me, "I understand you have guns in your house...." I gave her nowhere to go in that conversation, criticizing them for using what was a first amendment issue to violate the 4th amendment with my son and pry into our 2nd amendment rights.
Idjits proselytizing bunny-hugger ideology.

They are asking because, they want to know if you start saying things during a visit that may send red flags up in their thinking they may just prevent another mass shooting. will it work? don't know but if anyone who posted to this thread doesn't understand that we have a major mental health issue and people who shouldn't have guns are getting them and well you seen the results on the news!
They want to take away our guns because it is the easiest way in their thinking to prevent the mass shootings, but what they don't understand, it won't solve the problem which is a mental health crisis not guns, because if not guns , then knives, vehicles, arson, etc. those that are mentally damaged will find a way. notice the last shooting where the feds investigated and took away a gun from the shooter, he still got his hands on guns and ended up doing what his damaged mind for some reason wanted to do, even with him already flagged he still was able to do it. the saddest thing is how the media all of a sudden lost interest in finding out why it still happen. they only want to look at what was used and not why it was used, a damaged person with mental health issues again to hard and costly to prevent and help those who need it.
until they can identify these damaged minds it will keep happening and we as gun owners will pay the price.

And who decides who should and shouldn't have guns?

And who decides who should and shouldn't have guns?
Now That’s The Million Dollar Question...

Im guessing their going to send me over with cupcakes and a clown making funny balloons and politely ask you to hand them over and when you don’t I’m unleashing Crazy Clown on your &$$ and he’s going to thump a knot on your head while I add to my gun collection :)

Hey it sounded good anyway,, my moneys on Daddy Joe himself coming over and then forgetting why he came but Im 50/50 on that one...I forgot what I was saying, what was the question again?? ;)

Yeah, I got the guns question back in the o'bama regime days. Not since though. I now get "Have you fallen in the last 6 months? ( ans. not as much as bin biden) and "Do you feel down, depressed, or hopeless? (ans. yep, every time I watch network news- which is why I answered yes to the question " Are others concerned about your drinking ?")
Now I have to figure out the correct answer to the what "pronouns" do I wish to be addressed as. This country has gone absolutely nuts- But don't blame me I voted for the other guy, the energetic non-apologetic guy in the red hat who say's what he means and does what he says and never mumbles.

Do you feel safe in your own home? If you are being abused by a mate, that might be a hard question to answer by some folks. Difference between being abused and being "the" abuser. Might be the only chance to speak up.
Be careful with that one in some states. "Abuse" disqualifies the entire household from possession in NJ. A fellow's wife went nuts on him one evening with a knife - IIRC. The police were called and his 3 safe collection was confiscated shortly thereafter.

And who decides who should and shouldn't have guns?
It may be the guy asking the questions. For over 20+ years your PCP in the state of Hawaii can hold your fate on getting firearms. there you need to apply for a purchase permit for every single firearm you want to buy (no matter how many you already own/have), the PD will send a letter to your PCP asking if there is any cause to deny the permit.
so think about how you react when ask these questions, you come off as a hot head and not a cordial and intelligent person after all it is just a question, but how you answer or react well might have consequences you might not like. trust me it almost happened to me!

This is not new in my neck of the woods. Providers have asked me and my wife for approximately 3’ish years now. Apparently this part of the Red Flag Laws so I am told. The last time it happened to me was in DEC for a routine dental appointment/check up. So I along with my wife answer like this.

Q: Any issues with drugs or alcohol?
A: No
Q: Any issues with depression, obsessive eating?
A: No
Q: Do you feel safe?
A: Yes
Q: Any thoughts of harming yourself or others, do you feel hopeless?
A: No
Q: Do you own or have any fire arms in your home?
A: No

As Nancy Reagan so simplistically said, just say "no." If you get all worked up and p.o.'d by the question you will have that negative reaction marked in your medical record.

My Dr. is cool. Her husband and son reload in their living room.

I've never been so questioned but have decided if it happens to answer as if I'd been asked a question about fishing. If they don't get the hint, I'll just say that I thought the medical stuff was finished and were were now talking sports.

Be the "gray man". Act so common and plain that you will be forgotten. The question and concept of this invasion of our privacy ticks me off too as unnecessary and prying, but in the situation we have been discussing we should just play it cool. We can be internally annoyed by the question, but poker-faced in our outwardly manner so that the medical staff will never know what we have! That being said I have some family members that are somewhat anti gun and I freely express my opinions with them if they bring it up. Even in that situation if we go off the rails it reflects badly on the gun community.

“The Gray Man” is a great book! The series of books about the deadly assassin is very entertaining! Sadly, the left wants to portray all gun owners as dangerous assassins ready to kill at any moment. Today, “Pro Gun” almost means you’re a Nazi skin head. At least, that’s what they’re trying to push.
The problem we have to solve is finding the “nut jobs” BEFORE they shoot up a crowded shopping mall or church. How do we do that?

Don't know if this has been covered ?
I belong to a medical Group in Oregone !!!
This System has a Portal for all your information Meds, Appointments etc.
I went in my Portal to look up some Meds. I opened Doctors Notes after Appointment !!!
The stuff they put in print is a wake up call .
They post a Mental Evaluation of Patient at time of visit .

My doctor is interested in my long range BR shooting and usually asked how me and my son have done in competition lately! My old doctor retired and bought the land I use to deer hunt as a teenager and now hunts my old deer stand. They are some of the last old country doctors that actually care about community health. When you take a new born to a Pediatrician, they are required to ask about guns in the home. If you say yes, they will hand you a statement to reinforce keeping guns out of the reach of children.

If you have ever seen a small child with his guts wide open and a nice hole in his back from an unloaded gun, You will never get over it.

Many doctors are conservative and believe in the 2nd Amendment but have lost patients to careless gun handling. If a doctors inquiry makes you think about how you safeguard your guns, you should thank him. He may have just saved your son or daughters life.
Have you ever seen a lifeless kid pulled from the ocean, drowned? Have you ever seen a lifeless kid pulled from a car wreck because a texting teenager hit the parents' vehicle head on? Have you ever seen a lifeless young man dead from alcohol poisoning due to fraternity hazing? I didn't get over those, or any other such scenes.

Should people be subjected to questions about whether they have a pool, or bathtub, or swim in the ocean? How about questioning if there are mobile devices in use in the house, or do teenagers live on their street? Should people be subjected to interrogation about if their children will go to college, and if so, join a fraternity?

The over-reach is the issue. It is a ceaseless quest for control, and is steadily eroding liberty and the quality of life in the USA.
