NRA Restructuring and Moving to Texas

Wow............bashing the NRA on a gun forum. Who would have ever thought.
They stole the election and I got to believe most of this bad publicity comes
from anti second amendment people to separate the people from the
most effective second amendment advocate.
That report on Wayne and the NRA went public for one reason to stop money flowing in to the 2020 election for pro gun US senators and house races. Some members were willing to throw the baby out with the bath water, the baby being NRA I get it some members see this differently, I see their tactics of divide and conker getting traction. When slow joe starts signing gun bills their hoping our dog in the fight has no teeth.

Got a question for all on this subject! Ive been an avid shooter for most of my life(43 yrs), but never had a NRA membership. Ive just always had a problem with the politics that surround the subject. However, due to all the crap going on in Washington, I just signed up with a 5yr membership. The question is, do you guys and gals think I made a good choice and why? I dont spent much time researching the politics stuff and would rather keep it that way, but I do value the opinions of people that are at the same place I am. Where the metal meets the meat!
Thanks for all the info!
Rob

And here all this time I thought when I went to NRA HQ that I was in Virginia.

We, on this forum, have many agreements and disagreements on the current state and effectiveness of the NRA...

But one thing is certain, it's not the the NRA, regardless of how well they are run (or not) that is the force behind 2A rights in this country. It is every gun owner, of which there are many millions, that vote smartly for their representatives in government. The right people don't need to be "lobbied". We don't (or at least shouldn't) need a paid lobbying group to fight for us in front of the people that actually should be fighting for us. We need to put the right people in the right offices.

For the most part, every gun owner I know has a profound respect for responsible ownership, which includes, safety, training, and the correct attitude about when and how to use a gun and when not. We are a membership, without having to have a sticker to prove it.

Agree.
But what can a gun owner really do that is meaningful? IMO. Nothing. We are being outvoted and some very wealthy people are spending millions to eventually, with political help, make firearm ownership too expensive or illegal. Red flag laws and taxation will be utilized to the maximum to accomplish their goals.

NEWS FLASH:

Ahhh Mannnn.........
This young man in the video is an idiot. Please, please, PLEASE! Can we all stop saying "The NRA is moving their headquarters from NY to ..."?

The NRA HQ is in Fairfax, Virginia. Anyone who doubts that, I've got my wager ready to lay on the table. The HQ is not moving anywhere, it's staying right where it has been for longer than this forum has existed.

Being in New York did not cause the problems nor start the ridiculous scare tactics on their endless mailings.
Leaving New York will not solve their problems.
They're not leaving New York. They're staying in Virginia, but re-incorporating in TX.

Many if not most US insurance companies are incorporated in Nebraska because of NE's propitious regulations. That doesn't mean they all have their headquarters in NE.

I get the frustration and your question points to how many, including me, perceive a fading of our power against forces that are attempting to take control.

We must remain vigilant, individually and as group. Is that enough? Who could really know for sure.

All things considered, I think gun ownership in America is too engrained in our culture to get rid of it entirely. Yes, it can be made harder and harder to own a gun. Some states are already a bureaucratic nightmare to buy a gun. But for those that want it bad enough, they will jump through those flaming hoops backwards. I wanted a suppressor and I went through that BS affair and waited 13 months for my stamp. But I got my damn suppressor and now I'm only pissed that I didn't leverage that process to buy more so I wouldn't have to repeat it. I wanted an LTC/CCP and that required a weekend class, deeper than normal background check and fingerprinting. Sure, it was a process but I like the results. Will we need to go through that at some point in the future just to buy a .22 rifle? Perhaps... but I'll do it.

There are just too many of us (right now) and there are economic and political aspects that need to be respected in gun owning America. And as long as we bring up our children to appreciate all the aspects of gun ownership, they will carry it on, even if in the silent majority or vocal minority.

I been a member on and off through the years , I don't know whats going on behind the scenes , so I'll still be a member on and off as time goes on . Glad there getting out of NY , wish I could. Here there stopping that Pillow guy's pillows in Bed Bath and beyond and in Koles for supporting President Trump's. I will never go into or buy from stores. NY is done for .

The NRA itself said the following -

"Today, the NRA announced a restructuring plan that positions us for the long-term and ensures our continued success as the nation’s leading advocate for constitutional freedom – free from the toxic political environment of New York.

The plan can be summed up quite simply: We are DUMPING New York, and we are pursuing plans to reincorporate the NRA in Texas.

To facilitate the strategic plan and restructuring, the NRA and one of its subsidiaries have filed voluntary chapter 11 petitions in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division. As you may know, chapter 11 proceedings are often utilized by businesses, nonprofits and organizations of all kinds to streamline legal and financial affairs. "

o the NRA is misrepresenting or outright lying about their move. They have highly paid brilliant propaganda weasels taking the reigns of this proud American institution. And it seems to me simply evading the legal quagmire caused by their corrupt management. How am I wrong ?

You're asking me, but I never commented on the political or administrative aspects of NRA's maneuvering. This thread's title is somewhat ambiguous in saying "moving to Texas" but several posts allude to the NRA literally packing up and moving its headquarters from NY to TX. I just feel obligated to point out the fact that the NRA has been headquartered in Fairfax, VA since before many reading this were born, and will still be in Fairfax, VA after many reading this are deceased. How am I wrong?
