I was wondering, does anyone ever stabelize the wood that they make the stocks from? Use to do this where I had to have the dimensions hold for molds regardless of temperature and moisture.
Stabilizer can add weight to your stocks it can be a good thing or a Bad thing depending on the application of the stock. But hey each to there own I normally seal mine with a two part marine timber sealer epoxyI was wondering, does anyone ever stabelize the wood that they make the stocks from? Best bet is to use a vacuum chamber so it sucks the air out of the timber and replaces it with the stabilizer. Cactus juice is 1 type of stabilizer that I know of buy I'm shore there is plenty more out there in the marketHow did you do it?

I made a stock similar to that a while back. Right at the wrist where the forearm meets the butt is thin and is a week point. Mine cracked there about all the way through so I ran a pin from the top all the way thorough the pistol grip and devconed it in. U mite wanna do that as precaution.View attachment 1221629Making progress little by little. Having an infant in the house definitely slows things a bit.
Also, trying my hand at cutting a trigger guard - not easy with 3/4” aluminum, a drill press, a jigsaw and files
