Case Lube

Hornady Unique & Imperial size wax = mink oil...in other words slightly differing mixtures of lanolin or other animal oils and paraffin or carnuba wax. You can pay $8 a tub for that stuff, or buy a can of KIWI mink oil and never tell the difference.

I prefere the mink oil because it is slightly less goopy than the Hornady Unique.

The Forster High Pressure appears to be straight liquid lanolin.

In experimenting to duplicate Dillons formula...I settled on a ratio of 1 part to 12 of liquid lanolin to HEET in the red bottle (99%+ Isopropyl Alchohol). I use this for bulk sizing of 223 and 308.

I put 100 cases or so into a gallon zip-loc bag with 5 pumps of the lube and work them through my hands until all are coated, then pour them out into a stainless steel bowl till the alchohol flashes off.
I hear this method used often. My concern is that the lube gets inside the necks as well. Do you need to swab the insides of the necks as well, before sizing them?

I haven't seen any adverse effect. I don't shoot F-class or anything, I shoot full IPSC sized steel at 1000 yards w/a 308, and 8" and 10" plates at 600 yards w/a 223.

If getting lube in the necks is a concern, then spray the ziplock bag before you put the brass in.

Fair enough. I actually use a nylon brush with a tiny bit of lube on it to brush out the necks.
I dip the case neck in the tub of Imperial dry lube applicator then tap it on the edge of the container, then hold the case neck in right hand and then apply a very tiny amount of Imperial with left hand to case only up to case body-shoulder junction.
I keep a micro-fiber towel in my lap to wipe case after sizing and my hands too I guess, so over lubing never seems to be a problem.

Hornady one shot in THE BLACK CAN.
it's a lube and cleaner. I found it works better than the red can lube only.

I would occasionally wipe my hands with a micro-fiber towel, but I probably needed to do it each time, which slows things down.

I should have made myself more clear. I want to make sure that every case gets lube inside the case snack.

I too want case lube inside the case necks. I find the more uniform the lube is on the exterior, the more consistent my shoulder bump is. I take the time to line up the cases, mouths toward me, and spray at a 45° degree angle. Swish them around on the sheet to uniform the lube on the body. Folks tend to poke fun at my cookie sheet, but it works for me.

I wear an old cotton glove and dip my fingers in the wax a couple times every 10 or so rounds and then grab the case with that hand as I put it in the press. No worries about getting it in the case neck.

I couldn't agree more!!!
I couldn’t disagree more!... I’m a imperial die wax fan and use it almost exclusively however I have resized 1000s and 1000s of cases with Hornady one shot and other than using it incorrectly the first time I’ve never stuck a case!....

I use imperial, but after I'm done, I put all the brass in a Tupperware with brake clean. Nitrile gloves of course, then slosh them around. Transfer to a beer flat box and using compressed air, blow them out,
Outside in the garage with the door open.
I have a little ocd going on though. On 223 brass for the AR, I purposely get lube in the neck to help with the expander. The brake clean devolves it quick. I use a coffee filter and put it back in the can when I'm done.
Usually get about 5-6 cleanings out of a pint before it becomes too contaminated.
Yeah, I know I'm nuts.

I followed the instructions in detail - still managed to stick four cases. Prior to trying the One-shot, I used Dillon for all my high-volume sessions where I might spray down a few thousand pieces at a time. NEVER stuck a case. I have gone through about 30 bottles of the Dillon pump bottles and I get several thousand out of each bottle. The One-shot got me four stuck on the first can. I tossed the remaining cans I had bought. If I still had them - I'd send them to you. I like the imperial too - but impractical on high-volume loading sessions with A/R brass, etc. unless time is of little value.

Why its this more complicated than it needs to be , its a lube on a brass case , good god....It must be better if its 20.00 a container, cant make my own, but I do...dollar store spray bottle, lanolin, 99.8 percent isopropyl alcohol, one mix will last thousands of rounds....oh but wait i need something a corporation made....it has to be better......

Really? I have both but never used the black can for sizing lube. Does it effect powder/ primers or do you wash/ tumble after sizing?
I spray and load. I don't spray like shown on YT. I have a 3 sided box I put the tray in. I hold can 6" away at sight angle spray each side one Swype per 2 rows. I kinda roll the cases in my finger tips as I put it in the shell holder. Never had any problem. Bench Rest shooter.

Royal Case & Die lube is absolutely the best case lube. Never had a stuck case and it's also great for bullet forming. They make a spray or solid. www.sharpshootr.com

Stuff works really well, but I dislike the sticky mess you get with it. When I do large numbers of rifle cases, I align them all on a sheet of butcher paper, spray, roll them and spray again. After a while there's enough overspray that you can just roll cases on the butcher paper for several cycles. I usually wet tumble brass sized with the Royal spray lube to get the sticky stuff off.

For smaller batches I use One Shot. Important to follow the directions: allow to dry before sizing. No need to tumble afterward (well, I've never needed to, anyway.)

For benchrest or one-off stuff I use Imperial die wax, and wipe it off with a towel.

I use Ballistol for sizing lube. Works great!

I accidentally bought a can of the liquid (meant to order the spray can), and simply use the ballistol liquid on my RCBS lube pad... it works very well! much thinner than the RCBS lube, so it's not such a PITA to work with.

Wipes right out of the dies, and will not gum up. You can leave the stuff in the die to act as a rust preventative when you're done sizing too!
I guess the maker is correct. You can use it for everything shooting related, it seems.
