Ive come across some cartridges marked 40-72 BB . Just wondering if anyone has a rife that shoot them?

I Googled 40-72BB and what I found was an object that looks like it could be some sort of a rifle cartridge. It's called Gas Grenade Long 40 MM-72 BB. The limited information said it held 72 BBs, and was powered by green gas (?) and it fires 72 BBs simultaneously. This item looks to be something used in airsoft airguns. I found this on GUNFIRE Airsoft & More (gunfire.com/en/products/ga).

thats not what im talking about. this is a rifle cartridge

Im just wondering if anybody has a rifle that chambered in this.

Was somewhat popular in the 1880's+. Obviously a single shot only cartridge due to extended length. More info in the Big Bore book from Rifle Magazine. Mike Venturino specializes in these firearms.

40-72 Winchester, also known as . 40-72 WCF is a centerfire straight-walled rifle cartridge designed for black powder rather than smokeless powder. It was introduced in 1895 for the Winchester 1895 lever-action rifle.

I don’t, but know a couple people that do.

Probably has a couple kangaroos on the headstamp as well, Bertram Brass out of Australia.

If it’s loaded ammo, people will want to know if it is smokeless or black powder, or it will probably just get pulled down.
