9mm hand gun for Concealed Carry?

I have a Kimber Micro 9 and it is very concealable. Its small size does require and extra firm grip but it feeds everything. The magazine tends to pop the top round out when removing from the frame. I think the M&P shield shoots easier. If I buy another, it will be one of the Sig models. Probably single stack and 4” barrel.

S&W Shield 9mm $249 to $269 traditionally twice a year from a store that rhymes with portabella. PSA freq. sells it for $249 as well.

You get one 7rd and one 8rd magazine. Compact, have thousands of rounds through mine and never can count the number of failure to feed issues I have had on one hand. Single stack so it fits hands well from little petite women to 6 foot 1 269lbs. me!

It is not a range gun, competition gun, family heirloom. In fact I got my oldest son his first concealed carry gun and that is what it is.

It is very accurate. Down side trigger is not the best trigger in the world. It is not the worst. The other downside it is plastic.

If all you want is a fantastic carry weapon it is FANTASTIC for that. People put them down because they are cheap and do not have tactical gimmicks but those add bulk and cost. but as a carry weapon they are almost perfect. Better sights and better trigger would make them perfect.

A tactical gun is not a carry gun. A work gun is not a carry gun. A go to war gun is not a carry gun. A full size all steel gun with rail is not a carry gun. A race gun is not a carry gun.

Trust me I hate plastic guns I especialy think anyone paying $500+ for a gun that is as much plastic as steel is a fool. I am sure some people will run off to a safe space or crying closet because I said that or will pour some hate my way but I do not care a bit. For under $300 though all that matters is if it works every time you pull the trigger and is a joy to carry concealed. My recommendation is both.
This.

This is my experience. And turned on about 8 people to the shield.
I put an apex trigger kit in it. Makes a big difference.

It shoots well and not a single issue.

Which do you favor, size or capacity? The Glock 19 is used by many. It has a 15 round double stack magazine and always goes bang. The Glock 43 suggested is easier to conceal and can be a pocket pistol, but you sacrifice 9 rounds of fire capacity. And while the 9mm has very mild recoil, the very small grip of the 43 may reduce your control.

If you like the smaller, the M&P 9 Shield is another option. With the EZ option, it is very easy to rack for those with less hand strength.
And that is a fact ! It has two "nubs" at the rear of the slide that allows you to grab onto and easily rack it. Mine has a safety on both sides for either a left or right hand shooter , PLUS a grip that depresses ( much like a 1911 .45.) S&W really put it all together on this one.

Lately I've favored the Glock 17, 19 and 26. All 3 use the same magazines, which is convenient.

For those in restricted states, all 3 have 10 round mags available. But even the 26, a sub compact, can run the 33 round fun sticks for range days.

The 17 is a bit large to carry for most, but the other two work just fine.

@kneedtospeed - I think you get extra points on the TSO if it's got a gas pedal and red-dot. You draw that puppy and the bad-guy knows he's in for a rough ride. All you need then is the beep of the timer! Hooo! Here we go! Get Some.

Sorry, couldn't help but goof a little. I liked the Sig P365XL I handled. Fit my big hands pretty well for a small gun. I don't carry though, so my opinions on this matter little.

There’s another aspect of prioritizing “cheap and reliable” in a carry gun. If you ever end up using it for its intended purpose, there’s a good chance you’ll have it taken from you for a long time and might never get it back.
You gonna trust that fancy custom 1911 to the vagaries of evidence lockers and police inventory for possibly years?
Don’t do it. Buy the cheaper option that still earns your trust.

What he said. I carry $200 guns for this reason( Kel tec p11 with a reload will do just fine). My pretty ones only go on dates to the range.

Thank you guys for all the replies, I appreciate it. I have carried a Glock 21, Glock 30 and a full size 1911 ISW. Just looking for something lighter. I live in NY so I am restricted on magazine capacity. Also I was gifted 1000 9mm 124 gr JHP and I figured this is a good excuse to buy a 9mm.
The Berreta Nano would fit that profile. Light, small ("Nano" says it all), has flush and extended mags. The extended is smaller than most sub-compacts...and it loves the 124's. Superb Berreta no snag styling.IMG_1740.jpg
