Well remington pulled it off-

My BAT benchrest actions have very little in common with a Rem 700. They are not remotely copies or clones of a 700.

The 700 series (721/722/700) became successful only because they were as accurate as the M-70s of that era and significantly less expensive. Thus they became more popular. Being more popular a larger aftermarket developed for them. There is nothing special about Remington actions.......
Your bat has way more in common with a 700 than a 70.

It can use the same trigger, hardly a defining trait. The 700 series is a significant step down in design from the CRF M-70s and M-98s. It was designed as a cheaper alternative. The BAT is a purpose built action second to none for certain competition uses.

So what in the fire control or bolt configuration did bat do that was groundbreaking? Its the same as every other purpose built br action before it- did you know that the early stolles used remington bolts? Did you know that pretty much every custom action, certainly every benchrest quality action, is an improved copy of another action before it? And did you know that they were a tighter tolerance remington? Dont take this as bat bashing, thats hardly the case since thats all ive used since my single digit serial number bat was made manually, but they all are direct descendants of the remington pattern. Back when i started in br remingtons were still winning. True em up real good and install a beeson bolt and you were ready to go. If you were real serious you installed a sleeve on it and then it looked just like a panda. Save up and get a hall, searcy, hart or panda and keep on upgrading.

Sacrilege! (true though)

Putting a wood stock on a savage is like putting make up on a fat chick...;):D:p
Hey, y'all need to lighten up on the fat chicks, in my younger days when I hunted two legged game as well as four, the only thing a little woman could show me is where a big one lived! They never said no,:p:p:cool:

I don't believe the newer ones are the quality of the older ones. I could be wrong, But, I would by older before newer. Just sayin....

Just saying-The newer receivers are much much better. The only problems that a few have found primary extraction is not good and requires the bolt handle to be repositioned.

Butch, what’s the deal with them on positioning the bolt handle? Looks like someone would step in and make this right. Unbelievable a company would not try to correct something that so simple.

I know of several that have sent theirs in. I always send mine to Dan Armstrong for a replacement handle tig welded on.

Ive seen his work, and it looks great.
Someday I would like to put a pre-chambered Remage together myself. I haven’t figured the cost but by the time you rework a bolt handle, bush the firing pin, and add a bolt release plus add a bolt knob; how close are you to something like a Defiance Tenacity compared to the 700 action?
