Well remington pulled it off-

This thread seems to have gone the way of most of my golf balls; IN THE WEEDS!!!!
It's about Remington and their latest bankruptcy isn't it?

How many of ya alls ladies had a make over, and when they came home you said oo la la.... They probably looked like a Savage before they left the house. o_O

There wouldn't be a shortage if people wouldn't hoard the stuff. Why does anyone need 25,000 rounds of .22 LR ammo? A box of 50 would last me 3 lifetimes. Do some people really think that they are gonna hold off a National Guard unit just because they have an AR-15 and 5,000 rounds of ammo for it? With Remington's luck by the time they'd be ready to go all out the shortage will be alleviated. Probly can't find a sucker to lend em the $$$ to buy raw materials.

Outside of shortages I shoot 50k .22s a year. Some people just really really enjoy shooting. I did, however slow down when I bought a singleshot .22. Buuuuut then totally blew past 80k last year because I bought a volquartsen.

You sir, are definitely correct. However, I must point out that the originator of this thread humbly admits that he has been guilty, on occasion, of derailing a few threads himself. ;)

Have not seen, heard or read any reports on such. Can you copy and post your information ?

Bill, if you do a search you will find a multitude of stories about this, New York Toilet Paper Times, Wall Street Journal, and a lot of other sources.

Benchrest has pretty much been dominated by the M700 and it's various clones. Not so much for the Savage. There's a reason that a lot of customs copy the M700 and improve it in

My BAT benchrest actions have very little in common with a Rem 700. They are not remotely copies or clones of a 700.

The 700 series (721/722/700) became successful only because they were as accurate as the M-70s of that era and significantly less expensive. Thus they became more popular. Being more popular a larger aftermarket developed for them. There is nothing special about Remington actions.......
