Teslong Borescope... what a suprise...

A buddy of mine bought a Teslong after trying mine. He checked all his modern guns, and found some problems with insufficient cleaning. No big deal. He checked a black powder rifle, and could tell from the display that the middle third of the bore was caked thick with carbon. He's been trying to get the stuff out now for about 2 months; says he's close, but there are still some stubborn spots that refuse to come out. His normal routine was to pour hot water mixed with Ballistol down the tube, brush, and swab dry. After finding the problem, he's tried a dozen different solvents, and more scrubbing ideas than you can shake a stick at. Apparently he's going to modify his "normal" routine now.

I went through something similar to your friend's plight. What finally worked was to plug the barrel at one end and pour eze-off oven cleaner into the other and let it stand upright for 24 hours. Then carefully tip it up and drain the goo. Then take a bronze brush and get what you can out of the remainder. Two treatments were enough for my barrel. YMMV.

Afterwards you need to clean thoroughly with alcohol and then whatever gun oil you usually use. I hope this helps.

Where and by whom is the product made?

Schenzen, China. Teslong is the company
Why would an American gun owner, who supposedly values the inalienable right to own a firearm purchase a product from a country dedicated to destroying the United States of America ?
Please look up the paper by two CCP AIR FORCE officers “UNRESTRICTED WARFARE” and The 100 Year Marathon by Michael Pillsbury. Also asymmetric warfare and the connection to fentanyl. Numerous articles in The Epoch Times.
Please don’t take the above personally. That is not my purpose.

Don't take this personally either but you probably should trash all your vehicles, appliances and electronics because ALL of them have China stamped somewhere on them. Not much in this country that isn't built with Chinese parts. Don't check the tags on your clothing or shoes either, you may be running around naked. How about a cell phone ? Many are made in China. May want to ask yourself the same question. Guns and borescopes are two separate items. None of my guns are built in China. That I can promise you.

You are correct that we are very intertwined with the CCP. That disengagement has to start somewhere. As an example, if there is a USA made product choice I buy that. I ask mail order stores a bout country of origin and tell them no thank you if if is PRC. We have to get away from those people.

So why would an American purchase products with Chinese parts or made in China. Do you have a cell phone ? It's made in China if you do. Why did you purchase it ? Think about that a minute because that's why I purchased this Teslong bore scope. I haven't found one made in this country. Once we ( USA) builds everything I use in this country, I'll start buying only American made products. Until then, I'm stuck with purchasing what I need regardless of it's origin.

Mine is now working great. Attached are two pictures. One is the factory barrel on my Winnie M70 7mmRem Mag. The second is the factory barrel on my Savage 243. Both have a lot of tooling marks. The M70 has at least 500 rounds through it - I bought it used and I've put that many in it. Who really knows. The first inch or so of barrel is heat cracked like crazy and the lands are quite worn.

Over the years our country has drifted toward imports rather than manufacturing things here. Government regulations have shut down or hamstrung whole industries. We have relegated steel production to China. Obama shut down the last remaining lead smelt during his reign. Fees, penalties and regulations make it difficult to compete with foreign manufacture. Unions have also contributed to the problem. We need to bring back our manufacturing base but in order to do that we're going to have to figure out how to make that viable.
Although Suppressors are made here the GCA has made them cost prohibitive for many. If they were easily accessible cost would come down and more could enjoy their advantages. Government again and they claim to be concerned about healthcare but apparently hearing is far down the list.

we heard the same bull for 40 years about Russia was to destroy us. trillions were spent proxy wars fought all for really nothing. with MAD no side was willing to destroy itself
China grew rich by selling us merchandise. why would they destroy their source of wealth? So far I do not see them as suicidal as the US is

Let's say we drop this line of discussion. It is of no help to the original poster and serves no purpose in addressing the product itself, only personal biases. We are all friends here and free to make our own choices. Let's not fight over those choices, but instead be happy that we have them available.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have two Teslong borescopes. One I bought and one that they sent to me for free (the rigid model as well as the added mirror selection) in appreciation of my discussing options, pricing, application and marketing details with them. Their approach to marketing has been honest, supportive, respectful of customer needs and opinions and shows a drive to deliver a quality product at an affordable price while providing decent customer support (except during the worst of their Corona Virus shutdown). At a price running from a nominal $50 to $75 for their two most popular products versus $300 to as much as $1,400 for other brands, you make the choice.

I ordered the 36" semi rigid model. I have some 30" barrels. It should be here tomorrow. I also got my new Kreiger 6 BRA barrel from Kelbys, today. So I will know what a new barrel looks like. I will have plenty to do with FF brass and breaking in the barrel. I have a used 260 Rem barrel, that I took off and replaced.
At some time soon I will see how well it cleans up. I will see if what it really needs
is a good cleaning. If nothing else it will be a good training rifle for some younger person. Our club needs younger people badly to carry on as a lot of us are on the high side of 70.

How ironic to see someone attack a Chinese product on an Internet forum.

Literally, the only way you can access this forum is via a Chinese product.
Not sure why I was chosen as the trader of America. I'm not sure you can hardly find any 100% American made products in this country. I mean you can find items assembled in the US but the some of parts almost always are foreign.

I think its good to feel disgusted everything you purchase something made in china. I know I do. I avoid it when ever possible. I do hope in the future we can bring more of our manufacturing home. But in many cases I think folks love money more than country.

Love my Teslong , keeping things honest in the USA. Some folks hate them , mostly the folks getting called out for selling junk.

Certainly buying American made is number one. It's just not possible to do anything in any hobby, sport or interest without having items with made in China on them. I hate seeing it on items but unfortunately I'm not sitting in my lounge chair ( Lazyboy- which by the way may have been partially made in China) rather than doing things I love whether with China made or American made goods. I wouldn't nor would anyone own a cell phone if we had to buy an all American made phone. Computers also. Cameras and other electronics also all made over seas. It's flat-out almost impossible to purchase 100% made in American products these days. There are items but not everything we use in our lives is fully American made or American produced. One day it's a possibility if this country can cut ties with the countries we sell for and begin replacing them with our home made products. This thread got way off track so I'm out on this subject. All I can say is, teslong has helped out my barrel cleaning process at a very reasonable cost.

That was actually my point. I feel the same way. It has always repulsed me. I remember not long ago Walmart was all USA made and computers and cell phones were made in Texas.

My new Teslong USB borescope arrived today. While I have several devices I can attach it to, the most convenient would be an iPad. I have a powered Lighting-to-USB adapter and the iPad recognizes the Teslong borescope but says it's not supported. I've been looking in the App Store for an app for USB endoscopes or cameras but have not had any luck.

Has anyone found a way to use the Teslong USB borescope on an iOS device? Should I just give up and use a PC, Mac or Android device?

P.S. Works perfectly on Android phone.

P.P.S. Don't buy a borescope. It will break your heart.

Open the photo booth app, plug in the Teslong, it should switch from laptop camera to Teslong. If not, press the take photo button. With the photo booth app you can take photos and movies.
