WSM for sure, they just shoot.I have a light in 6 dasher, and would like to add a true heavy gun, not just shoot the light up one class. suggestions ?
300 wsm ?
300 win mag ?
????????
thinking 18-22 lbs or so complete
no super big cartridges, like my shoulder where it is.
300 WSM has been proven as great heavy gun. Its my number 1 pick. You ask about a 6.5 prc never shoot one. I used a 6.5x284 with 140 VLD hunting bullets (Berger) as a Rookie to win score in heavy gun at 2011 Nationals. It is a 21 pound gun. I used a 300 WSM (65 pounds) in 2019 at the G.B.A. Nationals on 2 targets and on last target my Light gun in Dasher to win Heavy Gun score. The caliber is just a tool its up to the shooter to know his guns and loads, which one to shoot in the conditions he is shooting in. "MISSISSIPPI"I am not sure everyone read the question.
I DO NOT WANT TO SHOOT A DASHER AS A HEAVY GUN
I want to shoot something different , bigger and heavier....what I WANT TO DO.
SO YES A 300 WSM FITS, anything else ?
anyone look at the 30prc or the 6.5 prc as a 600/1000 round ?
I got time to work on this and collect bits and pcs.
WIB3 REALLY Matt's your friend! Didn't know the old grump had any. LOL

This will happen with a WSM are 300 wm with heavy bullets if you shoot enough. I have seen hole replies blown off paper.I seem to recall some dasher shooters getting blown off target at one the nationals(montana ?) but 30's staying on paper. as long as silly ibs rule that dq's misses, i'd like to have something bigger than a 6 on hand in heavy. looks like wsm is the answer, now to stir the pot, any reason to go up to 300 wm and a heavier bullet 230 250 ?
and thanks

Wouldn’t there need to be equal numbers of 6’s vs 30’s for this data to be accurate?yes but....
this was 6 vs 30 and the 30's stayed on.
the reason to have a 30 in addition to a 6.

In your original post did you not say you want the heavy gun to weight no more than say 25 lbno all you need to know is that SOME 6'S MISSED THE WIND CHANGE BIG TIME and the 30's stayed on target. again it is about a big heavy 30 for heavy gun PERIOD.
In your original post did you not say you want the heavy gun two weight no more than say 25 lb
Truly and honestly you ain't going to like what I got to say if you're not willing to go heavier and want to shoot a 30 caliber I personally don't think it'll work for you especially in a heavy gun shooting 10 shot groups.big and heavy ...compared to a lite 6 dasher or clone.... yes less than 25 is a good spot, looks like the 300 wm or 300 wsm is the winner . no 80 lb 6mm's for me, no 100 lb 375's either.
just 200-250 gr in a 30 cal in a 18-25 lb rifle.
