New 6mm gt

So like the title says I’ve decided to pull the trigger on a 6gt. I ordered a proof 7.5 twist comp contour, and I have a badger bottom metal and mcmillian a6 prs stock ready to go. I also have a trued Remington 700 with a small firing pin and m16 extractor, but that was supposed to mated with a proof 6.5 carbon barrel for a hunting style rifle. My question is should I run that remmy on my 6gt or buy a new action, if so which one. I want something new I have/had defiance, Stiller, and a alamo precision action. I need opinions of which and why.

If it was me and I had the action in hand, I would use it. You're not trying to shoot bugholes off a bench, I suspect you'd be well served running the M700 and putting the $1300 you'd spend on an action into reloading components and barrels.

Remington 700 action @ $218
Recoil lug @ $35
PTG Cone bolt @ $375
New barrel @ $365
Chamber/ thread @ $300

You're not going to find a better cheaper option than that recipe.

I have nothing but good things to say about my Impact Precision action. Very satisfied with it. I shoot PRS style matches and am on my 3rd barrel now for it.

I'm glad you wouldn't, but a cone bolt is the way to go and they're the only dealer on the corner.

All of my main rifles are Remington 700 and 40X rifles and not a single one of them has a coned Bolt. I had the ptg bolt in my 40 x and it was the worst running piece of crap and I was so glad the day I put it on eBay and sold it along with the barrel that went with it.

Get a used Tikka 595/695 model

I have a coned PTG bolt in a model 7 repeater, bdl, runs great, feeds 7-08 great. 6br cases need to be positioned in mag right for good feeding, when that barrel is on it. Its a super light weight rifle. Why coned, I have not idea it seemed fun at the time! Works great but not sure i would do again

I have a Terminus Zeus on order. Got a bbl ready for it. MTU 22". I like the quick switch bbl setup on the Zeus. These are 3 lug push feed, 60° bolt throw.

Also have a couple of American Rifle Company Nucleus' SA both 6.5 PRC. CRF is nice as is the shorter bolt throw (72°?). Also got their Archimedes in LA flavor for a 300 PRC...just got that bbl delivered. 25" M24 profile. Archimedes is CRF too.

Also check out Big Horn. CRF but 2 lug instead of 3 like the Nucleus and Archimedes. Bolt heads, i believe are swappable between all of their actions models.
