Resizing cases

When setting up any die , the die and shellholder must have full contact to remove ant slack in the press and die and press threads . When your first case is sized at the top stroke with the case fully seated into the die you shouldn't see any light between die and shellholder or bie has to be lowered slightly .it's all in the setup most of the time .

Clearances in the press components will be removed when contact occurs between the case and sizing die. If this doesn’t occur before the die face contacts the shell plate, no case sizing will result.

Custom dies are set up to NOT have contact between the die and shellplate, so you cant just throw blanket statements out there about how to set up dies. Each chamber and die is different along with sizing needs

Good point, my custom dies have a gap of around 0.020 between the shellholder and the base of the die. My standard dies generally touch.
