King of 2 mile

Guys are still having trouble with various big cases with too thick of sides. The thick sided case have enough brass material to thin up sides and stretch them way out to 4 or
more inches,,And they'd work with proper slow powders; We are working on a 458 HSM experiment, with case holding 400 gr ball powder under the bullet. ED

Paul Philips won 2 mile with 416 Barrett.

20mm Vulcan is a big case that works ok, without having

the sides made too thick...They have thinner sides

than smaller cases guys are getting that have the sides

made too thick and won't extract easy or work with high pressures.

Here Barnard P Cheytac bolt that would do for our 416 HSM..Ed......

What actions are available for the 20mm size case?

Anzio Ironworks makes a disgusting looking calipee and I believe a class IV license is required. - 20 mm requires electronic ignition for the primers. - Can't see a 20 mike-mike making weight for Ko2M Dusty, plus accuracy isn't all that great from a single round on plate target standpoint.

Im going to make it a 50cal for getting around the DD requirement and the 20mm came with electronic and regular primers- both were the same case and you just have to make a bushing to use bmg primers. Anzio makes a version they call the 20-50. I have a bunch of 20mm brass just waiting for an action big enough besides an anzio!

McMillan did the 50 "Fat-Mac" quite a few years ago (+10). And the 14.5 Russian necked to 50 cal. has been done. - Both these versions have not exhibited very good accuracy at long range. - I personally like the 50 BMG Improved using Lapua or RWS brass. with a 38" barrel I've run the 820 gr. Lehigh heavy bore-riders up to +3000 fps. - Finding the right bullet/barrel combo is key when shooting the lathe turned solids. - I'll be working with a Barnard GP action rifle with the 794 gr. hybrid Lehigh bore riders & a gain-twist in the near future for a possibility for the 2020 E2K match as well as a 416 Barrett as another option.

- P.M. me if your interested in further discussion for accuracy in the 50 cal. - I have 5 rifles (in 50 cal.) and have done a respectable amount of testing using a variety of slow powders and heavy bullets.

IMO the 20mm case or 14.5 Russian is too over-bore to obtain the required accuracy for competition shooting in 50 cal. - Plus having a 1 of kind quality action built by a custom action maker the costs could/would be staggering. - The BAT EX25, EX20, Barnard GP and McMillian 50 are what the current market is offering.

Thanks ron. I wasnt as much worried about the buddy buddy ko2m political battle as i was just wanting the biggest and craziest for showing off but id at least like to hit with it when i tried!

I understand 100% (regarding Kof2M) - But there's another organized group that is running E2K (www.EliteLRC.com - Elite Long Range Competition - Elite 2000 Yard). They've done 2 matches so far, one in 2018 & another in 2019. - 3 members here on this forum are the organizers and it is actually sanctioned competition, shoot at 2000 yards for group (5 shots) and score. - I'm sure its not for everyone but I found it to be a great challenge to shoot groups at 2000 yards where a bullet is subjected to 3 seconds time of flight and the elements. - I'm trying to find somewhere down in the southern part of the U.S. to try to set up for competition for the guys who live in the south. Montana is a long ways to drive and I want to see the E2K continue & to grow.

Regards, - Ron -

I’d love to participate in southern region matches. Built and bought rifles last year but live 9 hours south of Dallas, and Montana is too far.

Got guys doing various 416 HEs..

One just built a 416 HE, just been testing it a few days..

And using 168gr of HBMG 475 gr CEB, tested it, in good

conditions, 2 shots at 1800 yards and was within

a 1/4 of minute accuracy...A few shots at shorter ranges

had same accuracy. Ed..

More about our 416 HSM from BMG brass, and
our 416 HE & 460 HE from our 585 HE cases
Got reamers for 375 HE, 416 HE and 416 HSM,....

460 HE & 460 HSM are all spec'd, got HE reamer
soon have HSM reamer...Our HSMs have a Wea type
radius on the shoulder..

The fellow that set up our 416 HE in an ELR rifle
and got 1/4 min accuracy,
They got some game out west over 1400 yds..
.Here is the gun they set up.
Using a K&P 34" barrel on a BAT action.....Ed

And have got 460 HSM specs setup, the impetus for that is some
asking about one and new great line of 458 bullets CEB now has.

It will hold more powder than the 416 HSM and will get
a 572 gr as fast as 416 HSM gets a 475gr.....Ed..

I know it's not close to you Ron, but there is a
"Magnum match" at Raton a few times a year.
It goes out to 2025 or so. 1st Saturday of the month. It would be good train up for KO2M.
Info can be found at "Raton Sporting Rifle Match" there is a caliber restriction of 338 and under. That may change.

We fireform the 416 HSM with 65 gr of medium speed

surplus powder, with rest of case filled with farina

and grits mix, with a play dough plug in the neck.

It is loud, so we shoot it into big container through a barrel size

size hole, so the sound is muffled, so it doesn't deafen us..

It is great getting more companies making 416 caliber bullets,

long target and bore rider bullets. Ed..

....
He didn’t own a mill, at least I didn’t see on. I asked how he would mill. Did it all on a lathe. Sorry not related to this current subject. Just wanted to share in an age where you can’t do anything unless you have cnc.

LA sounds like he has the solution y'all have been looking for.

Me, I'd be very okay with two classes: under 25 lbs and Unlimited.

Many years ago there was a discussion about heavy BR rifles getting too fat. IIRC, it was Harvey Donaldson who suggested that you could build as heavy a rifle as you wanted; you just had to hold it over your head and recite the Pledge of Allegiance out loud. I always admired that man. I got to read very old BR bulletins where Harvey pontificated.

I would definitely consider attending an event in the SW.
