About ready to abandon H4895 in 6 BRA .

RL-15 really gets them moving. Easy to load on the light side and get that 2960ish. That what seems to be working for me right now....;)

Regards
Rick

I am a big advocate of this powder in the 6BRA. I have run 4895 and its accurate but way too sensitive to pressure whereas RL15 is not and is every bit as accurate.

I wish I could get a handle on 8208xbr, I can get it to shoot good but not great. I could not get Varget to work either again it maybe the lot I have. RL-15 I had great success with in the Dasher not so much in the 6br Imp. VV powder is very temperature sensitive powder, like 133 you need to change every relay.... jim

A fellow that I shoot with has been using 8208xbr with 103gr Dominators for several years now in his 8tw 6br. He found BR4 primers and a low wgt load of 8208 to be the answer after chasing 4895 and others for 6 months or so with little luck. It might have a low muzzle velocity, but I've seen that thing shoot some REALLY good groups. Seems to work well from 40-85 degrees so it must be fairly stable. FWIW. WD

I saw it used in a Dasher with great success with 103 Spencers, but here again it has changed so much since the original lot and every one after it. It is a crap shoot too... jim

Has anyone tried Norma 203B or the new enduron Powder by IMR?

James, I tried the 4166 in a couple of 6br's with 103 & 105 bullets and it shot quite well, but not well and consistent enough to shout about. It is worth a try but I'd be surprised if you were enamored by it. FWIW. WD

Here is my observation about my standard 6BR in slow twist. I never had one before and I was told it would not shoot with the PPC, but I don't have a PPC so I made me a 6BR in 13.5 twist. I posted my first targets shooting Bart's bullets and I thought it shot really really well. Since then I have seen lots and lots of targets posted here with the PPC. My 6Br is very, very close.

(Now I know that if I were going to the Nationals or whatever blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda... Harump harump I am not qualified to have an opinion etc etc)

But if were a better shooter than the next guy, I would think I could hang EASILY with the PPC shooters at the club level. The gun would not be the limiting factor if tuned properly.

Steve Blair may chime in on this if he sees this thread, not sure if he will being it is about the BRA. His f class 6br was loaded with H4895 with a 105. It worked very good for him.

I have tested it in my 6bra and it will shoot one hole at 100yds I've found it to be too temperature sensitive tho, as a slight change in temp and humidity and your load goes to crap, how you guys get it to shoot is beyond me.

If there's something I'm missing please tell me as I have 8lbs just collecting dust.
