Change the F-Class National Championship CoF?

So I go to nationals as a 600 yard HM not having shot 300 and 500 in 8 years? I guess that's my own stupidity?

Same here.
I have no close ranges that shoot F-class at less than 600yds...I have never shot at those distances in competition; I have only shot those ranges for load development. It will be interesting for me as well.

I'm confused. We are cancelling the 300 yd Nationals? Where were they? Dean's back yard?

The only time I've ever shot 300 and 500 was at SOA and I was lucky enough to be squadded with John Brewer. That was a fun day.

I was lucky enough to be squadded with Mr. Brewer for 2 days at a match in Louisiana. That was probably the funnest 2 days shooting I have ever had.

So you go to the nationals as a 300yd HM never having shot at 600 in your life. I like Immike’s idea better.

It’s the same as being a HM in Open then trying out F/TR. You are automatically a HM in F/TR. Sorry, but there is no whining. Seen too many guys brag about being HM and trying to act like they know it all and only have shot 300 yards to get HM.
To be terribly honest, classifications don’t really mean squat. An Expert won the LR nationals a couple years ago. Anyone can win on any given day.

I support eliminating 300 & 500, I won't drive very far to shoot 300 yards. We should also separate the Mid Range Nationals and move it around the country, doesn't take a range the size of Phoenix or Raton to hold a Mid Range Nationals. Clubs around the country would welcome a Mid Range Nationals and it would be better attended. Hold it at a different time of the year than the LR Nationals, that would help attendance as well.
As Larry said, this has been discussed at the LR Nationals for several years and then reported to the NRA Board. Maybe these petitions will make a difference.

Scoring at 300 yards gets very difficult as the F-Open shooters tear up the X-ring with a variety of 6mm tack drivers. In addition to scoring accurately with all those pasters in a small area, it can be dangerous for the pullers. Wooden or plastic spotters are regularly shot in to small pieces flying around the puller, hard to make it safe for those in the pits.

If the NRA doesn't listen to their customers, the customers will go away!

You dont go to Nationals as a 300, 500 or 600 HM. You go as a mid range HM and will have to shoot all 3 distances so dont go if all you have shot is 300 without knowing you will be expected to shoot 500 & 600

I realize if you go to the nationals as a HM it doesn’t matter if you received the classification at 300, 500 or 600 yds your a HM. The problem is if you eliminate the 300-500 yd lines we’ve lost the chance to be that years national champion at X yd line. So you’ve eliminated two national national championships.

Your wrong! There are no 300, 500 or 600 yard champions designated. Each individual day has 3 matches which are added together for a daily agg award. The 3 daily aggs are added together to figure the Championship award. Always been that way. Some could add all the 300 or 500 or 600's together and declared themselves those champions. No one has to my knowledge.

I do believe you won that one! Oh and after not shooting those for 8 years.
Not even close. That was 2011. I was on the very west end (little end) the last day of SOA shooting at 1000. Last 10 shots I held on a rock between targets or on the hospital 7 ring and shot 7's on the other side of my target. WOW!!!! A 7 and I was happy to have it! Raton handed me my ass a couple times that day, in a couple different ways. You might say it was a "Learning Experience". Great place to choot, bring your "Big Boy" panties.....

wrong shoot, sorry!

At the national level, I'm not even sure 600 makes sense for Open class. 300 ought to be retired - or at least relegated to "reduced course" status. Rifles are just too good for that. You need to go to a benchrest format for that.
