Hand priming tool?

Looking for a hand priming tool i saw mentioned a couple months ago. It had adjustable primer seating depth and i beleive it even came with a tray but not positive on that.

Sure wish the 21st Century Priming Tool had finer adjustments then 2-1/2-thousandths and a tray.
If they were made with 1-thousandths adjustment, would give the user better versatility.
Regardless, they work very nice and are precisely made.

funny you should mention lee
i have a stack of old school hand primers with screw in shell holders.
one per caliber..always seated the same.
i do have a sinclair that i got cheap and use for 30br/6br/6dasher.
I’ll just keep using my old Lee hand primer.

I have the lee but have found that on the tighter pockets it just doesnt have enough stroke to push the primers flush. I end up having to run them thru a rcbs bench primer to get them to go that last .002"-.003"

I received the 21st Century priming tool as a Christmas present from a good friend. It is a precision instrument, and very well made. Not sure what the adjustment increments were on previous versions, but the one I have adjusts in .00125" (per click) increments. It does not have a primer tray, but I personally don't find that to be any impediment to its use.

fix your primer pockets,
quit putting bandaids on the symptom

I really like the K&M tool with the dial indicator, but is not adaptable to a tray. Very good leverage. Uses the flat Lee shell holders.

I had one of those a long time ago and the problem is that the pot metal wears. I was able to fix that by filing down the main casting a bit. The shell holder opening direction was changed, but I got my stoke length back. Soon after that I got a tool made from better materials. I am all for tradition but I care more about well built tools, particularly if I am going to use them a lot. Currently the best one that I own is a 21st Century, which is a piece of functional art.

...or breaks. I loved it for the ease of use, but I do like the primers set all the way into the bottom of the pocket.

I just picked up an RCBS. We'll see how it goes.

have you looked to see if the tool is broken ?
early tools had thin metal at the shell holder and would crack.
this would show as high primers when the crack was just starting.
That's not the problem, the problem arises from the fact that on my lee tool the seating stem is not long enough.

Thank you for the help. Ill look into the 21st cent. Tools

sorry, something is not correct.
call lee and ask for anther ram
i own more than 10 lee primer seating tools...none have this issue

I am not going to count my Lee primers but I have noticed reloaders are not in the habit of returning tools to their original boxes meaning at one time most of my time at a gun show was spent looking for parts and pieces.

And then there is the 'light a candle' instead of cussing something that is not understood.

I am a fan of R. Lee, I do not agree with a few things he said. One area I believe he took liberties was in the primer section of book. I have always believed reloaders made mistakes and he could not protect them from themselves.
One mistake was made when the reloader nervously pumped the leaver on the auto hand primer. Nothing happens when there is no case in the shell holder but when seating primers the primers gets stuck into the primer pocket, when the leaver is pumped another primer slides in under the partially seated primer. OROBLEM: There is not enough leverage to finish seating the first primer and there is a chance the reloader crush the second primer. AND if the reloader uses the second primer with the belled top there is a chance the reloader does not have enough strength to seat it so he goes for help with the other thumb and 8 fingers.

POINT? If there is not enough travel in the priming tool to seat a primer use a small billet the same diameter as the primer, start the primer, back off on the leaver then insert the billet, I know, it could be slow3 but it beats complaining.
