Cabela’s 12fv convert to detach mag

Well I just picked up a Cabela’s special savage 12fv with a heavy barrel and blind magazine.
I am leaning toward buying a Boyd’s adjustable stock for it but am wondering if I can easily convert it to a removable magazine at the same time. I searched the forum but it seems my criteria was not helpful... any advice would be gratefully appreciated.
Post script... it’s a 6.5 creedmoor and consequently short action if that helps.

I see bottom metal for sale quite frequently here in the classifieds. You might place a want to buy ad. Or take a look at the savage shooters website.

Change the stock to a chassis. They come with bottom inlets for AICS-pattern magazines.

For just bottom metal look into these companies...

I think PTG makes one with bottom bolt release. If that's what you have. But the others will also work for bottom bolt release, but you'll need a little pick or something to release the bolt.

Does yours have the side bolt release?
And is the bolt spacing 4.4 between?

I believe that rifle is top bolt release. Jeff at CDI does a great job of inletting and makes nice bottom metal at a good price. I myself prefer MPA chassis these days.

You can easily purchase factory DBM hardware and drop it into your Boyds if you want to go that route. You can use the plastic Axis style to save some money, or you can buy the metal surround. Just for the hardware, metal is about $100 and plastic is about $30. Then you need a mag.

Nothing is required other than changing the stock and adding hardware.
