Savage 260 Model 116, Need Some Advice

Hello Everyone, have a little project ongoing and need some advice on the setup. To begin, I took a Model 116 SS action off a new rifle, previous caliber was a 270 WSM. Original stock was the weather warrior series I believe, that cheap plastic one and it was DBM. Anyways, I am setting this action up on a blind magazine custom wood stock and bought a loading ramp from Sharp Shooter Supply in hope that I can convert it to a center feed for this stock and action setup. I know the loading ramp designed by sharp shooter was originally designed to convert to a single shot but would like to make it a repeater. Can I epoxy a spring to bottom of loading ramp to make this happen, or am I straying off too deep and setting myself up for failure. Any advice is appreciated, thanks guys for any input.

I've done this. From Savage I got a box, follower, and retainer clip. In the stock you will have to cut a small channel for the magazine retiner clip and I bedded the bottom .050" or so of the mag box to hold it from sliding around. If you do that make sure you coat the box in release agent. It's worked flawlessly so far, just trial fit things before making things more permanent. I'll send you a PM with more info.

I think I screwed up, LOL, I ordered long box instead of short. Amateur mistake, well I guess I have some extra parts for a future project. I was looking into how much adjustment for box and that is when I realized the mistake.

You can check the distance between the action screws. A long action will be a liitle over 5". A centerfeed short will be 4.4" and a staggerfeed short will be 4.27".

yes sir, it's a center feed, and I ordered a long action, geeeez. To top it off, savage online store is down and I can't order over phone because they will ask for serial number and the serial number I have for mine will bring up 270wsm dbm. Darn, will have to wait for site to come back up.

So, I have action and barrel with box magazine with clip all inletted to stock, barrel is floating nicely. Now I need to bed it but did you provide some bedding around the magazine area so that is stays nice and secure without any wiggle, or did you just epoxy or glue spring down to stock? I'm fixing to bed action, some previous bedding from previous guy's build is still present, seems like action has no wiggle, but may need some filling on recoil lug area, should I rig up so I bed down in outer box magazine area or leave with some very small mobility? Thanks for any input.
