If anyone is curious about the Nosler RDFs, I did a more extensive test today with them, running 30.6gr of 2206H (4895) which has worked very well with the Berger 105 VLD hunting bullets. I have previously tried RL15 with them and had the occcasional unexplained flier...A mate who shoots a 6.5x47 had the same issue with the 140s. Anyway, I started with a soft jam and moved out to a .030 jump. Had at least 1 flier in every group. It also gave me a chance to play with my new Labradar. The Noslers averaged 3010fps, ran 5 shot groups with a best SD of 1.7 and a worst of 5. The Bergers were running 2995fps with the same charge. Bergers won out on accuracy though and I'll sticking to the 105 VLDs and 108 BTs.
I think with the availability of bullets you guys in the US have, I'd be sticking to the likes of Berger, Barts etc and give the Noslers a wide berth. The BC is there, but I don't believe the consistency is, not for F-class or benchrest anyway. PRS shooting might be another matter though.
Hey willow , am i reading that right 30.6gr gave you 2995fps ? ii think i only got around 2960fps didn't see 3000fps till 31gr .. mines a 28inch kreiger .236 bore 1;7.5 twist
hopefully i can get some good weather in perth this week to get a load for it
I'll stick with what 4895 gives me at the middle node.

Im thinking my RCBS Chrony is a little out.. I’m only getting around 2930FPS from 30.6, 105 Berger Huntings 1:8 at 28”. I may NEED a Labradar to speed my barrel upYes mate, 30.6 of 2206H netted me an average of 2995 with Berger 105 vld hunting projectiles. It was 3010 with the RDFs running the same charge so I'm going to drop it to 30.4 to get me back to around 2970. My barrel is a 30" Krieger, 1:8 twist 5R.

hey rusty if i head out friday we will check it against my labradarGood luck at the 800 mate.. your getting good speeds from that barrel.
I’m starting to think if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Even tho I have a soft spot of wildcats I may just go standard BR
6BRA has off the shelf dies. If you chamber them right we are seeing 3100 fps in 28" barrels with 105s.
I sure am glad PO Ackley and Harvey Donaldson didn't think like this. A lot of now standard cartridges started out as "wildcats". dedogsHaving a custom wildcat cartridge nobody ever heard of........... um.......... not so much.
Standard 6mm BR Norma is easy and not too expensive........... accurate too at 600 yards and will kill many of God's little furry creatures.
If you need more poop, why not 6.5mm Creedmoor or 6.5x47 Lapua, both of which have plenty of off-the-shelf components, available dies, are accurate, and also not too expensive. It's good to 1000 yards or more and will kill even larger animals.
I'd much rather build two reasonably priced guns, one 6mm BR and the other 6.5mm Creedmore, than cobble together an unusual offshoot of the 6mm family in an attempt to improve the already very good 6mm BR. In fact, last year that's exactly what I did.
Ease of finding ready-to-load components as well as ready to shoot ammo is important to me.
Like you, I have a fondness for the unusual, but I scratch that itch by making custom stocks rather than unusual cartridges............. cuts down on frustration later on.
Having a few more guns will give you a warm fuzzy feeling. Having a custom wildcat cartridge nobody ever heard of........... um.......... not so much.
